Flexible spending accounts are a pretax way to save on eligible medical and day care expenses. Starting July 1, 2013 the annual maximum for the Medical FSA is $2,500, and the annual maximum for a Dependent FSA is $5,000. Employees are required to re-enroll every year if they would like to participate in the plan. This is a “use it or lose it” plan. If employees choose to contribute to the 403(b) plan, and are in a benefit eligible position the University of Utah Hospitals and Clinics will match the amount that is contributed up to 3%.
