Teacher Works Project With Children At BACA

Two new trails have been added to the Tuna Valley Trail System. There are now nine trails bringing the total to 31 miles for walking, hiking and biking enjoyment. The two new trails are the “Marilla Rocks Trail” and the “Blaisdell-Emery Trail.” The Marilla Rocks trail is two miles in length and starts off Route 346, about one mile past the Marilla Reservoir. The Blaisdell-Emery Trail is a point-to-point trail, not a loop, and if four miles long running from Owens Way to Lewis Run. Tuna Valley Trails Association Trail Maps can be printed from its website at: www.tunavalleytrail.com .....The proposed budget for the Bradford Area School District’s 2010-11 school year shows no tax increase. Real estate taxes will continue to be levied at 21.52 mills. The preliminary budget was presented at the recent meeting of the Bradford Area School Board. The final budget will be presented for a vote at the June board meeting. The total revenues are projected at $35,736,498; expenses are $36,621,279; and a surplus transfer of $884,781, making for a balanced budget. In the coming school years, the district will be purchasing three new 72-passenger buses; and will fund year two of the replacement of the track and the turf; will continue to fund retirement stabilization; and will maintain all athletic programs. In other business, the board created two new positions - district wide principal for curriculum/assessment and federal programs/grant director. Both are 260-day per year positions, and both will fall under Act 93 for administrative salaries. Kelly Compton was named (Continued on page 2) INDEX
