Participate In End Of Summer Pool Tournament Scope The Competition

These members of the STEPS Drop In Center participated in this year’s end of the summer pool tournament. From the left, clockwise around are David VanTassel, Charlie Barr, Joe Lee, Bill Whitney, Terry Short, Victor Lee, Jimmy Carlson, Bo Bo Crowley, and Henry Keller. The Bo Bo Crowley/Joe Lee team took first place, The Bill Whitney/ Dave VanTassel team took second place, and the Victor Lee/Jimmy Carlson Team took third place. STEPS is a mental health consumer-run program that offers social and recreational activities to community residents receiving mental health services. A Board of Directors comprised of consumer members governs the organization where the following takes place in addition to pool tournaments: air hockey, monthly bingo, weekly/ holiday dinners, computer with internet access and E-mail capabilities, monthly/weekly community activities such as leather working and floral design, monthly family day, monthly free pizza night, variety of board games, and monthly membership meetings.

Left to right are Molly McCullough, Meagan Hillard, Cortney Schuler, and Brittany Watts. The first three are members of the “Donkey Balls” team while Brittany is a member of the Hendryx team. A total of fourteen teams played in the memorial competition, proceeds of which are to be donated to the Alissa Cameron Scholarship.
