Cherry Blossoms of Unity: Boutique Care Homes Commemorates 5th Anniversary

Boutique Care Homes commemorated its 5th anniversary with a series of heartfelt ceremonies. Each home celebrated this milestone by planting a cherry blossom tree, symbolising unity and the enduring spirit of the Boutique Care Homes community.

The ‘Okamé’ cherry trees, with carmine pink flowers and ovate leaves that turn orange and red in autumn, are a poignant symbol of strength, wisdom, and deep roots. These trees will bloom together every year, serving as a beautiful reminder of the togetherness and shared values that define Boutique Care Homes The choice of the ‘Okamé’ cherry tree, known for its resilience and stunning seasonal blooms, symbolises the commitment to creating a vibrant and supportive environment

Reflecting on the day, Founder & Managing Director, Ameet Kotecha remarked, “As we gather to commemorate Boutique Care Homes’ 5th Anniversary, I look back with immense pride on the journey of our residents and team. Like the cherry blossom trees we’ve planted, each individual has blossomed Together, we’ve weathered challenges, celebrated triumphs, and forged bonds that bloom anew with each passing year. Chartwell House Makes Debut in Knight Frank Luxury Care Home Guide

Chartwell House Care Home is delighted to announce its inaugural appearance in the esteemed Knight Frank Luxury Care Home Guide 2024.

This milestone, coming just 12 months after welcoming its first residents, signifies a significant achievement for the home, showcasing its unwavering commitment to providing exceptional care and luxurious living experiences.

Diane Collins, the Home Manager at Chartwell House, expressed her elation, stating, "We are absolutely thrilled to be featured in the Knight Frank Luxury Care Home Guide for the first time We’re proud of our exceptional environment and landscaped gardens that offer the highest standard of amenities to our residents.”

The Incredible Story of our Resident: Joyce Moody

Joyce was born in 1930 in Harefield, Middlesex Her father, Harold, worked as a porter at the Harefield Hospital Her mother, Margret, worked as a cleaner in the Northwood area. Joyce was one of four; she had two older brothers, and has a younger brother she is close to Joyce only knew two of her brothers, as one of her older brothers, Bobby, died when he was four, after he fell into a canal and caught pneumonia

Joyce went to school at Harefield High, however when she was 15 years old she started working as a copy typist When the war started, it meant she was unable to travel to London to get a job as a typist Joyce’s family were not evacuated, and did not have to take in any evacuees, but her older brother, Richard, joined the Marine Commandos and went to help with the war in Gibraltar Once the war was coming to an end in 1945 Joyce got herself a job in London near Billingsgate fish market. She commuted into London for 2 years before she found a job closer to home "When my mum would let me, I would go on holidays with the girls," Joyce recalls. "We went to Butlins and for a trip down to Margate " On her trip to Margate, she met a man named Denis in Ramsgate He was a train driver, and when he was able to, he would visit her in Harefield on his train He would also get Joyce free tickets so that she could travel down and visit him Denis and Joyce married when Joyce was 20 years old

Once married, Joyce moved down to Ramsgate She got a job doing some secretarial work, however she did not enjoy this greatly Nonetheless, she was happy and enjoyed going swimming in the sea Joyce did not have any family down here except for Denis She has been happily living in Ramsgate for over 70 years and has made lots of friends. Joyce’s younger brother, Peter, calls her every day

We are proud to report that 100% of family and friends respondents agreed that our team treats their loved one with kindness, dignity, and respect Additionally, 100% of families and friends felt well-supported during their loved one’s admission. This remarkable achievement underscores our compassionate approach and the deep trust families place in us

Furthermore, 100% of professional visitors felt they are appropriately involved so that the right service can be planned for residents and expressed their willingness to recommend our services to others This unanimous endorsement from industry professionals reaffirms our high standards and exemplary reputation within the care community

Moreover, 100% of our residents conveyed their happiness with the care and support they receive, noting that our team is sensitive to their feelings and treats them with kindness, dignity, and respect, which highlights the strong, positive relationships we cultivate

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated in the survey Your feedback is invaluable and drives us to continually enhance the quality of our services A detailed report will be published soon, featuring a "You Said, We Did" section to outline lessons learnt and actions taken Thank you for your ongoing support and trust in Chartwell House.

Fun-filled Trip to Broadstairs

Residents enjoyed a lovely trip out to Broadstairs recently, complete with delicious fish and chips at the bandstand They were entertained by a performance from Nick Kelly playing his guitar and singing, followed by a leisurely stroll along the beach. Residents were lucky with the weather and enjoyed a fantastic day out.

Mum is a changed person since living at Chartwell House She’s happy, singing, occasionally dancing, and more engaged in life, and I’m now making some lovely memories with her Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff From the moment you walk in you won’t want your loved one to live anywhere else. Residents and Relatives Meeting

Another amusing evening was had at Chartwell House for their regular ‘Residents and Relatives Meeting’ With an Ascot theme, cream tea and sports quiz, the meeting was thoroughly enjoyed by all Gerald still feels robbed over the Thistlecrack question and will be inventing a cocktail to support his answer Thank you to Helen for an amusing quiz

International Nurses Day

On International Nurses Day, we paid a visit to our local nurses Diane and Jude delivered pamper gift packs to Summerhill Surgery and Thanet District Nurses to show our appreciation for all the hard work and compassion they deliver daily in our community.

Trooping the Colour

Everyone at Chartwell House had a fun day celebrating Trooping the Colour Residents and team alike watched the parade which was spectacular, then indulged in a wonderful afternoon tea. Following this, in the afternoon they put on their royal attire and had a boogie, followed by a royal quiz

The Beauty of Metamorphosis

Chartwell House have been busy nurturing caterpillars into beautiful butterflies, and recently released them into their new habitat. They turned it into a ceremony, reading a wonderful poem about butterflies, enjoyed refreshing drinks and then watched the butterflies emerge into their new environment.
