SUZY SHEPHERD

Welcome along to Meggetland for what I’m sure will be another challenging match for us. Our season opener this weekend against CelNc is one we are really looking forward to. We know they are a good young side that have individuals that can be a threat to us. If we play to our potenNal , uNlise our physicality and win our individual baPles we will get the result we want. We shall start as we mean to go on and work hard to get where we want to be. I hope you enjoy the game, Suzy Shepherd

TRANSFERS IN 2019 Jamie torrance Jamie was part of a hugely successful Kelly Hearts ladies team in 2018 but made the move to Thistle for a new challenge. Jamie is an excepNonal forward player who could thread a penetraNng pass through the eye of a needle! Fiona Gibson

Fiona made the move from Kelty Hearts to Thistle and we couldn’t be more delighted to have her on board. Fiona’s fitness levels are excepNonal & her versaNlity as a player means you may see her in varying posiNons on the park!

CARA LACKIE

The 3rd of our 4 signings from Kelty Hearts this season. Cara plays her game in the le_ back posiNon, bringing both pace and tenacity to the role. How would you dance your chances in a 1v1?

DEBBIE TO The last of our signings from newly promoted Kelty Hearts. Debbie joins us in a strikers role. She’s fast, direct and with an eye for goal, you can be sure a fair few will hit the back of the net this season!

The interview

THE INTERVIEW HELEN TEMPLETON (DIBZ) Our first interview of the season is with Helen Templeton, otherwise know as Dibz. Helen is a current PE teacher at Forrester high school and the experienced forward is now enjoying her second season with the Thistle Q: So to get started, how did you get into football? HT: “I’ve been playing the beauNful game for almost 31 years and never once have I been bored with a ball at my feet. I started playing with the boys at school in a small town up in the highlands. In secondary school myself and a friend begged for a girls team, within months we were one of the most successful teams in the north. From there I was hooked! From there I moved upwards and then began play for Ross County and then moved onto Edinburgh University and was then part of the ScoRsh universiNes squad & became the Edinburgh club captain”. The interview

Q: 31 Years is quite some Kme in the game! Can you give me a breakdown of your career so far? HT: “Club wise I then played for Dunfermline in 1st division before moving onto Guliannos, Raith rovers, Hamilton Accies & Rangers all in the SWPL & a had successful spell at Motherwell in the first division picking up trophies & securing promoNon twice. In all those years I’ve only suffered 1 serious injury when I broke my leg in 2013, but it didn’t stop me for long. I am forever grateful for the people I’ve met, the friends, laughs & highs that football has given me over the years & I look forward to many more with Boroughmuir Ladies” Q: On that note, considering you have been around a few clubs, what team do you support and have your experiences changed that? HT: “I’m always a Rangers FC girl, however I have a liPle so_ spot for Ross County (as I was born in the hospital aPached to the stadium!) but my love for Rangers is fairly extensive! Sorry CelNc…” Q: Who is your sporKng hero of all Kme? This is a really tough one! There are so many & being a sporty person I have so much admiraNon for many! ...but I think if I have to choose one, it would be David Beckham.

The interview

Q: Football aside, what are your hobbies? HT: “I have lots of hobbies, love to get involved in lots of different kinds of sports. Bought a snowboard last year, but yet to get it out on the snow! I’m also a sports photographer & media officer for a men’s Junior team in Glasgow, Rossvale JFC. The team has been very successful over the past 3 years so it has allowed me the opportunity to not only get involved in the men’s side of the game but has given me the chance to capture league winning moments, cup clashes against some of the best teams in the junior game and has given me weekly opportunity to get my photos published in a Glasgow Newspaper. Q: And to finish Dibz, what are your goals for the season? HT: “This is an easy one to answer. As most folk will know, I’m compeNNve. I have always made my intenNons clear as a player to both the gaffer and the club from the moment I signed a year ago. I’m here to try to help BTFC secure promoNon to SWPL2, hopefully securing the top spot and winning the league. I also have my sights set on this year’s league cup. The girls have been fantasNc in preseason & have really stepped up to the standards Suzy & Ian have been seRng. These targets are achievable & I believe in the squad we have that we can make this happen this season.
