Family. Community. Real Estate. Building a real estate team is much tougher than it looks. It’s easy to find agents who can sell homes, but to Randy Bocook, having them fit his company culture of camaraderie and trust is the most important part. “Money seems to drive many people in real estate,” said Randy, “but not our tribe. We excel at matching our neighbors and friends with homes that they love and, in turn, we know that the money will come.” Concentrating on helping instead of selling is a rule within Bocook Realty. Randy’s other secret ingredient? Overcommunication. It’s essential to Randy’s mission that clients, customers, and vendors are always treated like family. “Our team knows what is important,” said Randy. “Family, community, and real estate… in that order.”

Richmond Hill Coming Together

Local Businesses Thrive

As we near half a year of living in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, many Richmond Hill residents are looking for ways to regain a sense of normalcy while still making responsible decisions for their families. Over the past six months, we have seen the community come together to support local, and as a result, many Richmond Hill businesses are thriving even through these uncertain times. Take the upscale seafood restaurant, Marker 107. According to the restaurant’s manager and chef, Eric Backer, business was a bit slow shortly after the stay-at-home order was lifted in April, but then the restaurant quickly matched and actually exceeded last year’s sales over the summer. “I think the increase is due to guests feeling more comfortable coming to dine with us rather than going into Savannah,” said Eric. “We just don’t have as many out-of-town diners as you’d find downtown.”

Eric reports that people’s comfort level about eating out varies among families. “Frequently guests tell me that they haven’t eaten out in X amount of months but it is their anniversary,” said Eric. “Others, we see weekly. It is not uncommon to have a guest mention how busy we are and that they are pleased for us.” The staff at Marker 107 is grateful for the local support they have received through these difficult months. “We offer a sense of normality during this season; an opportunity to drop your worries and enjoy the low country,” said Eric. “So, make a reservation, come out, and enjoy a meal!”

Meet The Mullings

Buyer Spotlight

Although buying or selling a home during the COVID-19 pandemic might feel like a stressful endeavor for any family, the idea was particularly concerning for Gretchen and Michael Mulling, whose eleven-year-old son recently went through a bone marrow transplant and is still taking meds that compromise his immune system. Upon hearing this, the team at Bocook Realty felt determined to make the process as easy and safe as possible for this extraordinary family of four. “With our delicate medical situation at home,” said Gretchen, “I was initially stressed about the idea of buying and selling in these strange times, but the Bocook Team made the experience super smooth.” Although Michael was born and raised in Maryland, he came to Richmond Hill for work in 2007 and soon met Gretchen, who is a Richmond Hill local who always dreamed of raising a family in the “little” town she grew up in. “I loved growing up on the Ogeechee River where sand bars were our playgrounds,” said Gretchen. Having grown up in Richmond Hill, Gretchen and Randy were old acquaintances. “The Bocook Team actually reached out to us during our months in Atlanta going through the bone marrow transplant process to offer help,” Gretchen mentioned. The family was touched by the team’s support, and they started working with the Bocook Team to purchase a home in Richmond Hill soon after returning from Atlanta. “We had to postpone the idea due to outside circumstances,” said Gretchen, “but our agent Robin Allison was patient and stuck with us for over a year until she was finally able to help us find our forever, dream home.” Robin, also born and raised in Maryland, attended the University of Georgia where she earned her bachelor’s degree in real estate and where she also met her husband. Although her career journey led her into several different fields, she always felt most passionate about real estate, and once both of her children were old enough to be in school full time in 2018, she knew it was the right time to finally pursue a career in real estate. Her clients always rave about her attention to detail and her warm demeanor. In fact, when asked what has been difficult for her about working through the pandemic, Robin said, “I really miss handshakes and hugs with my clients.” According to the Mullings, “Robin was great with ‘COVID Cleanliness’” during their home search. “She used disinfecting wipes whenever she had to touch anything and was careful to clean surfaces on the go. Most of the homes we visited had lights on and doors open to encourage visitors not to touch.” As far as selling their home went, The Bocook Team did a full 360-degree, virtual walk through video of their home where potential buyers could see everything, in detail, from their computers. “We showed the house for one day,” reported Gretchen, “and we were under contract immediately! We never felt uncomfortable during the process which I thought was going to be super stressful.” Now that the family is settled in their new home, it’s a happy ending indeed. “Michael and Gretchen brought tears to my eyes,” said Robin, “when they told me how much their home makes them smile and how they can’t imagine a more perfect home in Richmond Hill for them.”

In today’s digital world, reviews are the lifeblood of any business. Think about it: whether you are looking to purchase something as simple as a new shirt or as

elaborate as a new kitchen appliance, you most likely go online to read about other peoples’ experience with the product and to compare several options… all before you type in your credit card number. What many people don’t realize is that, especially in today’s economy, our clients go through the same process when “shopping” for a real estate agent or property management company. Before initiating such an important professional relationship, future clients want to know that people who have worked with us have found us to be the caring and professional community experts that we claim to be. Fortunately, with over a thousand positive reviews of our company on Facebook, Google, and Zillow, it’s easy for them to see that we are exactly that! We are so thankful to all of our friends who have taken the time to write us a review over the years. We read each and every one, and they always make our work feel gratifying.
