from the fairways update from keith welter

As we enter the summer months, we have already experienced significant rainfall in the first 20+ days of June, totaling 21.3 inches since June 2nd. This has caused some drainage issues on the golf course that many of you have observed or are aware of.

The golf course is situated in a relatively low-lying area, making it challenging to drain water into the ponds. The drains on the course are connected to the ponds using gravity and natural slopes. This system functions well when the ponds are not full. However, when the ponds are full, there is nowhere for the water to go, leading to flooding in certain areas. We have some companies investigating solutions, but these changes will take time.

Some of the areas most affected by heavy rains and drainage include sections of the cart paths. While efforts are made to pump out water and maintain passable paths for cart traffic, cooperation from golfers is still necessary.

If you see a puddle on the path, please do not drive around it. Instead, slow down and drive through it. If you are concerned about getting your personal cart dirty or wet, you are welcome to use a club cart. There are shared photos showing the damage caused by carts going around puddles. This turf damage is entirely avoidable.

As we move forward into the rainy season, we ask that if you need to stay on the cart path, keep all four wheels on the path. Do not pass the cart in front of you; instead, wait patiently until it moves to prevent unnecessary damage to the course.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

TENNIS UPDATE

Memorial Day

Round Robin

Memorial Day was a great turnout for Pickleball and Tennis. Members socialized on the pro shop patio for beverages and snacks.

Championships at Wimbledon… Sunday July 13th!

You can choose to come out for tennis followed by watching the finals at the club, or simply come to the club after to watch the matches and cheer on your favorite pros.

TIP FROM THE PRO

To make playing tennis more fulfilling, be aware of 3 ways to win more tennis matches:

·No matter what, act confident, like you’re an actor in a movie. ·Keep your frustration internal; you’ll feel better, not worse. ·55% of your communication is done through body language, so be careful what you show your opponent.
