Concert raises money for local charities

The October Trafalgar Concert organised by Royal Society of St George Sussex Branch raised enough money to donate to two Sussex Charities: Henfield Area Response Team (HART) is an independent charity which supports the South East Coast Ambulance Service in providing volunteer trained responders for emergency calls in Henfield that are, or potentially are, life-threatening. Local responders attend 999 calls at the request of the ambulance service and provide potential life-saving interventions and care prior to the arrival of the ambulance. They are fully trained and carry medical equipment and defibrillators that can restart a heart during cardiac arrest. When the team are on call the emergency response time in the Henfield area is reduced from a possible 20 minutes to, in many cases, less than 5 minutes,

which can sometimes mean the difference between life and death. See www.henfieldresponders.org.uk/the-team.html For 20 years the Dame Vera Lynn’s Children’s Charity has supported more than 700 families who have children under the age of five with Cerebral Palsy and other motor learning impairments. Its Centre in Cuckfield is a bright, welcoming and inspiring place where children and their families find the hope and specialist support they need. The wonderful people who work there provide small group conductive education sessions, music therapy, speech and language therapy, sensory/messy play, swimming and portage home play – all provided free of charge to families. See www.dvlcc.org.uk or call 01444 473274. The Trustees of the RSSG Charitable Trust Fund have agreed to ‘match-fund’ the money raised by our Trafalgar Concert, effectively doubling the amount donated to both charities.
