BLUECREST IN ACTION

Volunteer Firefighting - Kayla Volpe

My name is Kayla Volpe, proudly serving as a secondgeneration firefighter with the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company. Following in my late father's footsteps, who served as a truck engineer, I inherited a strong commitment to community service from a pretty young age. Since joining the department in 2008, I quickly became a State Certified Firefighter (Fire II), obtained a Q endorsement for driving fire apparatus, and later became a Nationally Registered EMT.

As a first responder, we frequently encounter individuals on their worst days, otherwise they wouldn’t have called us out. It’s so important to set aside personal emotions, maintaining composure and focus, knowing that we possess the ability to prevent further property damage or even save a life. Being a volunteer has given me such a sense of purpose and I’ve really gained an extended family within the department. While it’s often a thankless job, leaving our homes and families at any given moment, we’re always there to answer the call. It’s required to participate in extensive training hours in both firefighting and EMS, requiring a significant time commitment to uphold our certifications and status.

One of the most gratifying aspects of my role is engaging with the community, particularly in educational outreach on fire safety and participating in public relations events. Frequently, I get asked the question, "Can girls be firefighters too?" My response each time is: "Absolutely, if it's your passion, you can achieve it!" A few PR events that I have coordinated are the Penguin Plunge, which benefits the Special Olympics, Tunnel to Towers 5k and Santa Visits.

I met my husband at the firehouse in 2009, and now have 2 children (3 and 5), who are both just involved as we are! The firehouse has been a huge part of my life for the past 16 years and will continue to be for myself and my family.

We are thrilled to introduce "BlueCrest In Action," a new feature that celebrates the unique interests and community involvement of our team members. In this section, you'll discover inspiring stories of colleagues who dedicate their time and talents outside of work. Whether it's through volunteering, pursuing unique hobbies, or engaging in local events, "BlueCrest In Action" highlights the passion and commitment that define team BlueCrest. We hope these stories inspire you as much as they inspire us.

Community Outreach - Stephanie Triggiani

Marketing Director and team member, Stephanie Triggiani, recently devoted a day to volunteering at a local retirement home, Barb City Manor. Stephanie is a member of Christ Community Church’s Local Community Impact Team which is dedicated to serving one another by creating opportunities for people to meet the tangible needs of those in their local communities. With an array of activities like trivia and bingo, coupled with delicious homemade treats including cupcakes and banana bread, they brought smiles to the residents' faces.

Make a Dream Gala with BlueCrest Team

Our BlueCrest team recently had the honor of attending the "Dreams Come True" Gala, an inspiring event dedicated to making dreams a reality for children with life-threatening illnesses. It was a night filled with hope, compassion, and generosity. Our team members were deeply moved by the stories shared and proud to support such a meaningful cause. Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to this unforgettable evening.

BLUECREST 2.0 Products and Technology

Carl Amacker

Introduction

Earlier this year, we introduced the concept of BlueCrest 2.0. In that article, we discussed how BlueCrest has evolved over the last five years. We also highlighted BlueCrest’s approach to the next five years by strengthening our core business, expanding our parcel business, and innovating into new markets. This quarter, I’d like to focus on the topic of innovation and how BlueCrest’s products and technology will lead the way into a new era. As you read, please keep in mind that innovation comes in many forms – from processes to communications to people – and each one of us can be a leader in our area.

Customer Relationships

We can’t develop solutions our customers need if we don’t talk to them. Maintaining strong relationships with customers enables us to gain a deep understanding of their needs, preferences, and pain points. Actively listening to customer feedback helps us identify gaps in the market and develop solutions that directly address customer challenges.

Creation of Tailored Solutions

Collaborating closely with customers lets us create innovative solutions tailored to their needs. By involving our clients in the product development process from ideation to implementation, we can create solutions that align closely with customer expectations and deliver tangible value.

The Feedback Loop

Our customers are part of a valuable feedback loop we use for validating new solutions. This way, we can constantly refine our product features. By soliciting input from customers throughout the development cycle, our engineers can iteratively improve BlueCrest’s offerings based on realworld usage and feedback.

Trust and Loyalty

Every time we demonstrate a commitment to understanding and addressing customer needs, BlueCrest clients are more likely to remain loyal and continue doing business with us over the long haul. This loyalty can translate into repeat purchases, referrals, and positive word-of-mouth marketing. Thought of this way, it’s really a form of constant innovation. Developing our solutions in close collaboration with customers allows BlueCrest to differentiate ourselves in the market and gain a competitive advantage.

Embracing New Technology

Artificial Intelligence is all the buzz. We’re watching AI play a transformative role across so many businesses and communications platforms, and it’s no different in postal and parcel automation.

Manufacturers use AI to optimize processes, improve service quality, and stay competitive in an increasingly fast-paced and demanding industry. By embracing AI technologies, BlueCrest and our clients can unlock so many new opportunities. This is such a big topic, we will expand on it further in future articles of The Wave.

Expanding into New Markets

By now, you are well aware of our heavy investment into the parcels business. E-commerce has seen solid growth globally for several years in a row, with some areas in the world seeing retails sales exceeding 10% growth annually. This growth trajectory is expected to continue, which will drive a corresponding growth in parcel volumes. That’s where BlueCrest sees an opportunity.

Our innovations in this sector will coincide with the needs of so many customers. Whether its parcel volume increases, last mile delivery optimization, or cross-border e-commerce expansion, BlueCrest plans to play a role in the development of solutions that meet the needs of customers in these sectors.

Product Lifecycle Management

With new products and innovation comes the necessary task of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM).

PLM is a strategic approach we use to manage the entire lifecycle of a product, from its initial conception and design through to its eventual disposal or end-of-life. It encompasses a range of processes, tools, and methodologies aimed at optimizing product development, manufacturing, distribution, and support activities. To fund and fuel innovation, we need to focus as much on end-of-life as we do new product development.

Conclusion

As we sail into the next phase of BlueCrest 2.0, innovation remains our guiding principle. Our customercentric approach drives us to co-create solutions, leverage AI technologies, and expand into new markets like parcels.

Through effective Product Lifecycle Management, we will ensure efficiency and compliance, cementing our position as industry leaders. It’s because of our products, technology— and our people—that we will lead the way into the exciting next era of BlueCrest.

In January and February, the team continued to exhibit commendable drive and pride, enhancing inventory management, identifying missing items, and supporting the entire organization. Their remarkable resilience and teamwork allowed for the successful passing of the audit and swift resumption of business operations. As the end of February approaches, there is a palpable sense of relief and accomplishment. Congratulations to the Material Handling Team for their unwavering dedication and exceptional performance. BlueCrest Shines at drupa 2024, Showcasing Innovation in Print Technology

After an eight-year hiatus, the international print industry reunited at drupa 2024, the world's leading trade fair for printing technologies, held in Düsseldorf, Germany. BlueCrest, a key player in the French print finishing and print industry, made a significant impact at the event, hosting customers at various partner booths.

BlueCrest's presence at drupa was highlighted by collaborations with industry giants such as Horizon, Baumann-Perfecta, Hunkeler, Kyocera, HP, Fuji, and Komfi. The Horizon booth alone attracted over 200 French customers, showcasing the strength of these partnerships.

One of the standout presentations was BlueCrest's inserter range, featuring a Velocity inserter produced at the Technopli production center and connected to a Riso printer. This demonstration was a major draw, with more than 130 demos conducted during the fair.

The event also provided a platform for BlueCrest to explore new opportunities in the print market. New products from HP, Fuji, and Kyocera were introduced, catering to the needs of graphic customers. Additionally, BlueCrest sought to expand into growing markets such as packaging and print on carton, identifying potential new partnerships.

"Our success at drupa 2024 is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team."

PRACTICING EFFECTIVE MEETINGS & COMMUNICATIONS

More Effective Meetings

BlueCrest is a global company with employees located throughout the world. And while many employees may be domiciled in the United States, they are often considered remote employees. COVID significantly changed the way we work and attend online meetings, thrusting many into new technology, new daily schedules, and a new approach to participating in meetings. However, it does not mean we have to forget proper decorum for effective remote communication.

If you want to look your best and bring your best to your next remote meeting, then consider these suggested guidelines.

Part 2 - Remote Meetings

If you were sitting in a meeting room with your colleagues, you likely would not show up in a dirty shirt, ripped pants, or poor personal hygiene. Nor would you hide your face with a book or cover your mouth when speaking. The same is true for online meetings! Strive to act, dress, and participate in remote meetings with the same professionalism, courtesy, and engagement that you would if you were there in person! Here are some suggested approaches to be as engaging remotely as you could be in-person.

• Take a minute or two to make sure everything is set for your camera, microphone, and attitude before joining the meeting.

• Cameras should be turned on at the beginning of a meeting and anytime you are speaking so people know you have arrived and are ready to engage.

• Dress appropriately and be presentable as if you were at an inperson meeting.

• Use mute when you are not speaking to avoid disruptive noises.

• Use a company provided virtual background, especially with customers, so they know you are at work and not engaging in a social capacity.

• When the camera is not used, your profile picture on any company technology should be updated to a work-appropriate picture of yourself. Save your personal information for social media instead.

• If you are the host, log into the online meeting a minute or two early to ensure the technology is working so you can start the meeting promptly.

• If you need to call someone using Microsoft Teams, check if they are available first prior to calling to make sure you do not interrupt them if they may be in a meeting.

• “Make eye contact” by looking into the camera and ensure you speak clearly into the microphone so they can hear you.

Respect starts with yourself, so make sure you are mentally and physically ready to engage with your teams for any meeting, including remote meetings.

In part 3 of this series, we will discuss how you can “level up” your communication by showing up to inperson meetings.

"If you want to look your best and bring your best to your next remote meeting, then consider these suggested guidelines."

Double-check your technology.

Use your camera.

Dress appropriately.

Use mute when not speaking.

Use a company background.

Use an updated profile photo.

Login to the meeting early.

Text or message before calling!

INTERNATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS From Across the Globe

PARTY IN THE USA

We have discovered a recent phenomenon at BlueCrest. We’re really competitive. It turns out that a game of cornhole can bring out the competition in all of us, as noted at the recent BBQ lunch at BlueCrest HQ. We also learned that Hawaiian T-Shirts are somehow—someway—back in style. We will keep watching these developments and report back with any additional findings. We have heard rumors of a Cornhole team starting up, and more than one soccer ball has been spotted in the factory. We're not sure what any of this means, but we must be prepared to deal with this rising trend in athleticism.
