Nicholas Kenyon has been Managing Director of the Barbican Centre since October 2007. He was Director of the BBC Proms from 1996 to 2007. He has been a music critic for various publications, including the New Yorker, and has continued to lecture on the arts, and publish books on Bach, Mozart, Simon Rattle, the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Early Music. He was knighted in the 2008 New Year Honours, and in 2011 received the British Academy President’s Medal for outstanding services to the arts and humanities.
