To the LGBTQIA+ Community:

Let me introduce you to Alijah Wig, affectionately known as Jah. Jah’s story began in Charleston, South Carolina, where he learned in his community that family is important and it takes the whole village to keep the community afloat. By the time Jah was 19, he was working on being the best version of himself through therapy in the military. His therapist allowed him to give words to what he had always known but couldn’t verbalize…that he was a trans person.

Jah’s desire is to be remembered for his music and as someone who brought joy and helpfulness to the world. This has led him to found The Black Queer Movement which supplies gender affirming items to those in the community who may not otherwise be able to obtain them. Jah started this organization because of his experiences growing up in a rural community. Additionally, Jah feels that the overturning of Roe v. Wade by the Supreme Court may have left some in particular states feeling unsafe about the next steps in their transitions. He couldn’t let that go by without doing something.

Jah lives by the quote “Love is understanding ” . He believes that if we can get to a place of understanding, then we can get to a place of love. Such an amazing bit of insight shared by the 25 year old, non-profit f vist. Family and friends tak e

Sincerely,

E. L. Winston
