Black History Month 2025 celebrates the resilience, strength, and achievements of the Black community under the theme Standing Firm in Power and Pride. This year’s focus highlights the leaders, pioneers, and cultural visionaries who have shaped history while inspiring future generations to stand tall in identity, unity, and empowerment.
The theme centres on two core values: Power, representing leadership, influence, and the capacity to drive change, and Pride, reflecting heritage, cultural identity, and the celebration of Black excellence across the globe.
This year also honours key anniversaries — the 60th anniversary of the Race Relations Act, the 60th anniversary of the assassination of Malcolm X, and 80 years since the historic Fifth Pan-African Congress. We also remember civil rights campaigner Paul Stephenson OBE and equality champion Lord Herman Ouseley, whose recent passings mark the loss of two giants of social justice.
