AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

After School Activities provide students with opportunities across a range of interest areas, including; sports, performing arts, STEAM and creativity. These opportunities allow students to further explore their passions, try new experiences and make new friendships.

After School Activities for Primary students include:

INFORMATION

DATES

There will be 5 blocks throughout the school year where students can take part in After School Activities. BISH Kids runs every day (please see pg. 3 for details)

TIMES

After School Activities begin at 3.45pm and end at 4.45pm. Please collect your child from the Boma at 4.45pm. After school, Early Years students are supervised from the end of the school day until the start of their ASA.

CANCELLED CLUBS

There will no longer be a built in ‘make up’ week, and any clubs cancelled due to external vendors or school staff will be credited to your child’s Schools Buddy account. If your child’s club is cancelled, and you are unable to collect them until 4.45pm, they will be cared for with a movie and a snack in the Boma.

BISH KIDS

Before & After School Childcare

BISH Kids runs each school day throughout the year, with the exception of days where school finishes early (end of Autumn Term and end of Summer Term). At BISH Kids, children from EYYear 6 will have the opportunity to engage in a range of fun activities, have indoor/outdoor play and have an afternoon snack with new friends.

LOCATION

BISH Kids is located in the Early Years Learning Centre, just left to the main entrance of the school. Parents dropping and picking up may use the Early Years parking area.

MORNINGS

Children can be dropped off at BISH Kids from 6.30am-8am. At 8am the children are then escorted to their relevant playground where they will have outdoor play until 8.20am.

AFTERNOONS

Afternoons in BISH Kids run from 3.30pm-6pm. At the end of the school day, children who are booked into BISH Kids will be taken to the Early Years Centre. If your child is attending an After School Activity, parents can also book a place for BISH Kids and the children will be taken to Early Years at 4.45pm when clubs end.

BOOKING PROCESS

Parents should book the required sessions through Schools Buddy. It is strongly recommended to book as far in advance as possible, as spaces are limited.

Mornings: $8.50 per session (per student)

Afternoons: $15.75 per session (per student)

Late Bookings: Mornings, $12 | Afternoons, $20 (at the discretion of BISH Staff)

INFORMATION

EQUIPMENT

Students will be dropped off in the Boma at the end of the school day. Parent pick up is at 4.45pm in the Boma. For all JB activities, please ensure athletic wear and appropriate footwear is worn for each club with the exception of aquatic activities which require swim wear, a towel, a swim cap and goggles. A water bottle should be taken to all sessions. A sun hat/cap is strongly recommended for outdoor activities. Field Hockey requires shin pads and a mouthguard. Hockey sticks will be provided.

LOGISTICS

At the end of the school day, students will be escorted by staff to the Boma where they will meet coaching staff. Coaching staff will then return students back to the Boma at the end of club, for a 4.45pm pick up.

Please remember to join the app groups for updates with regard to the weather, schedule and photographs of the clubs. We look forward to working with our Y1-Y6 Junior Bulldogs this Winter season!

ABRAKADOODLE DOODLERS

Abrakadoodle art programs are designed to build creative thinking and problem-solving skills in children. Our programs focus on the elements of art, art techniques, styles, art history and the sequential development of skills. We provide specially trained, qualified and pre-screened art teachers and safe non-toxic art materials that bring an engaging multi-arts experience to students. Come to have fun and find your inner Artist!

ADVANCED ART

Students will dive deep into the principles of color relationships, exploring how hue, saturation, and value interact to evoke emotion and depth. Through hands-on projects and experimental exercises, students will learn to harness the power of color to enhance their creative expression, developing a personal and innovative artistic style.

ALBION SOCCER

Coaches will be focusing on the technical part of soccer, control, dribbling, passing, shooting, etc. The 1st phase of training will start with a short warm up with the ball. The 2nd phase will be 2 activities from our curriculum. The 3rd phase will finish with a scrimmage game to incorporate what was focused on during warm up and activities from phase 1 and 2.

CODE CRITTERS

This workshop is all about revving up STEAM learning with the INDI robot. INDI encourages open ended, imaginative play-based learning with real-life scenarios as learners build custom mazes, solve puzzles and drive.

AMERICAN ROBOTICS ACADEMY

CODE SPHERO

Students connect to provided tablets via Bluetooth, and dive into programming on day one! With a maze activity, kids learn to program their ‘bots’ to navigate a maze without touching the walls. Coding sounds hard, but our younger coders utilize what’s called “block coding”. Students will be introduced to the bot and how to care for their bot. Students will be provided with 3 objectives during this workshop - Program, Problem Solve and Play.

FUN FRENZY ROBOTICS

Students are encouraged to work as a team and explore the use of motors, gears, pulleys, and IR technology while building Lego Robot inventions. Each build will be followed by a thrilling challenge that illustrates the need for simplicity and the pitfalls of complexity. Students will be provided with a creative tool kit to design their bots!

Let your imagination and ideas take you wherever you want to go! You will learn engineering key concepts and fundamentals building with LEGO elements from the creative tool kit. Students will be challenged to create a structure/setting and engage with hands-on experience including fun, problem-solving activities while telling a story about their creations. This program offers STEMSTEAM curriculum as well diversity, self-esteem, social competency, collaboration and more.

ULTIMATE ROBOTICS EXPERIENCE

In this class, battle-bots evaluate the potential of a rough and dangerous area before moving in to save a Bot! Students will use gears, create structural integrity, and IR Technology to overcome the unknown. LEGO Technic pieces that come together to create movable, steerable, controlled robots.

Our Ballet/Jazz class is offered for children who are interested in learning a combination of dance styles in a high energy and fun atmosphere! BEGINNER KARATE

We teach Karate Lessons under the discipline, spirit, legitimacy and tradition of authentic Japanese Karate Do, Shito Ryu style. Our goal is to contribute to the physical and mental development of children to become better human beings, providing the practical tools that will be useful in all areas of their life. We have more than 50 years of experience. Our curriculum is endorsed by WSKF based in Japan and our diploma is valid worldwide. Lights, Camera, Dance Bollywood Style! Bollywood dance is the perfect fusion of traditional and contemporary styles – think rhythmic footwork, graceful hand gestures, and dynamic choreography! Incorporates dance style from ballet and jazz to freestyle and hip hop, kids will have fun exploring a variety of dance moves while embracing the glitz, glamour, and excitement of Bollywood.

CRAYOLA WILD WORLD

Kids explore the wonder and beauty of the animal kingdom and discover nature in a way that inspires empathy, curiosity, and creativity. Children learn about different animals and how wildlife conservationists are working to protect species around the globe. They experiment with different art techniques and use Crayola® art materials to create frog paintings, ink-diffusion jellyfish, polar bear sculptures, and more!

HIP-HOP DANCE

Our Hip Hop Class is created especially for children interested in learning the foundations of Hip Hop. Using popular and current music the students start learning dances and choreography quickly as well as learning various dance elements. We cheerfully provide children with a fun, positive and nurturing environment so they are able to experience the joys of dance, self-expression and movement. LITTLE MUSKETEERS

En-Garde! Little Musketeers is designed for students who have never fenced before. The class is led by our Olympian fencing coach Benoit. Students will use safety fencing swords made from flexible plastic which light up when they touch their opponent. Students will wear a safety foil during the class which will be fitted by the coach.

ORCHESTRA

Dedicated to students who are already playing an orchestra instrument for at least two years and are receiving lessons in or outside the school and also have moderate skill for music reading.

RUSSIAN CULTURE CLUB

Enhance proficiency in spoken and written Russian. Explore Russian culture. Discover and discuss Russian literature. Students must be able to speak Russian to join this club.

This is for students who are familiar with the fundamentals of playing violin but are still learning skills. (This group is for students who started last year.)

Tuesday & Thursday: INTERMEDIATE

This is for students who are at a more advanced level of techniques and challenges. (This group is for students who started last year or are already taking lessons.)

Friday: INTRODUCTION

This is for students who have no familiarity to the violin and are new to the instrument.

YOGA AND MINDFULNESS

**Students must provide their own yoga mats.

Incorporating playful activities and yoga poses to improve physical and mental well-being, focusing on strength, flexibility, balance, and mindfulness in a fun and engaging class! The children will improve their strength, balance, attention and coordination through fun yoga games, challenging yoga sequences as well as partner and group poses. Mindfulness and meditation will be woven throughout to teach the children healthy stress and anxiety coping mechanisms and work on building confidence, self-esteem in a non-competitive environment.

YOUNG INTERPRETERS

A course that trains children to use their spoken languages to help new students feel comfortable in school. Young Interpreters support new students by showing them around the school, and helping them communicate with others in different languages. This course is designed for all learners who are passionate about languages, who speak or learn other languages. Students will learn how to use different languages to communicate effectively. At the end of the course, everyone will receive a badge and a certificate.
