AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

After School Activities (ASA) provide students with opportunities across a range of interest areas, including; sports, performing arts, STEAM and creativity. These opportunities allow students to further explore their passions, try new experiences and make new friendships.

ASAs for Primary students include:

BISH Kids (before and after school childcare)

Junior Bulldogs (Sports)

External vendor led ASAs

INFORMATION

DATES

There will be 5 blocks throughout the school year where students can take part in ASAs. BISH Kids runs every day.

TIMES

ASAs begin at 3:45pm and end at 4:45pm Please collect your child from the Boma at 4:45pm. After school, Primary students are supervised from the end of the school day until the start of their ASA.

Any ASAs cancelled due to external vendors or school staff will be credited to your child’s Schools Buddy account. There are no makeup sessions If your child’s ASA is cancelled, and you are unable to collect them until 4.45pm, they will be booked into BISH Kids free of charge.

Schools Buddy is an integrated portal BIS Houston uses to organise bookings, sign-ups and other activities.

BISH KIDS

Before & After School Childcare

BISH Kids runs each school day throughout the year, with the exception of days where school finishes early (end of Autumn Term and end of Summer Term) At BISH Kids, children from EY - Year 6 will have the opportunity to engage in a range of fun activities, have indoor/outdoor play and have an afternoon snack with new friends.

LOCATION

BISH Kids is located in the Early Years Learning Centre, just left to the main entrance of the school. Parents dropping and picking up may use the Early Years parking area

MORNINGS

Children can be dropped off at BISH Kids from 6:45am-8am At 8am, the children are then escorted to their relevant playground where they will have outdoor play until 8:20am.

AFTERNOONS

Afternoons in BISH Kids run from 3:30pm-6pm. At the end of the school day, children who are booked into BISH Kids will be taken to the Early Years Centre. If your child is attending an ASA, parents can also book a place for BISH Kids and the children will be taken to the Early Years Centre at 4:45pm when ASAs end.

BOOKING PROCESS

Parents should book the required sessions through Schools Buddy It is strongly recommended to book as far in advance as possible, as spaces are limited.

Mornings: $850 per session (per student)

Afternoons: $15.75 per session (per student)

Late Bookings: Mornings - $12 | Afternoons - $20 (at the discretion of BISH Staff)

INFORMATION

EQUIPMENT

Students will be dropped off in the Boma at the end of the school day. Parent pick up is at 4.45pm in the Boma. For all JB activities, please ensure athletic wear and appropriate footwear is worn. A water bottle should be taken to all sessions. A sun hat/cap is strongly recommended for outdoor activities

LOGISTICS

At the end of the school day, students will be escorted by staff to the Boma where they will meet coaching staff. Coaching staff will then return students back to the Boma at the end of ASA, for a 4:45pm pick up. All updates with regard to the weather, schedule and photographs of the ASAs will be communicated through email.

ABRAKADOODLE DOODLERS

Abrakadoodle art programmes are designed to build creative thinking and problem-solving skills in children. Our programmes focus on the elements of art, art techniques, styles, art history and the sequential development of skills. We provide specially trained, qualified art teachers and safe non-toxic art materials that bring an engaging multiarts experience to students. Come have fun and find your inner artist!

ALBION SOCCER

Coaches will be focusing on the technical part of soccer, control, dribbling, passing, shooting, etc. The 1st phase of training will start with a short warm up with the ball The 2nd phase will be 2 activities from our curriculum. The 3rd phase will finish with a scrimmage game to incorporate what was focused on during warm up and activities from phase 1 and 2.

In this fun and playful space, students will dive into painting, crafting, designing, and creating with watercolours and oil pastels in a fun, creative environment!

BALLET & JAZZ

Our Ballet/Jazz class is offered for children who are interested in learning a combination of dance styles in a high energy and fun atmosphere! Our dance classes along with our original music and choreography fuel and develop critical thinking and sharpen both cognitive and creative skills.

Eyecan Athletics games are designed for beginners, intermediate and advanced levels. Children develop a lifelong love for the game whilst learning the fundamentals of basketball - dribbling, shooting, passing and defense.

Beginner Tennis is an exciting and engaging program designed to introduce young players to the fundamentals of tennis in a fun and supportive environment Through specialized coaching and ageappropriate activities, kids can develop their skills, improve their coordination, and cultivate a love for the game. It's the perfect way for little ones to stay active, make friends, and discover the joy of tennis!

BISH Talks is an engaging ASA where students design and deliver their own TED Talk-style presentations on ideas that inspire, challenge and spark curiosity Participants will learn how to research topics they care about, craft compelling stories and present with confidence. From science and technology to social issues and personal passions, BISH Talks empowers students to share their voices, develop public speaking skills and inspire their peers with ideas worth spreading.

DESIGN CLUB

In Design Club, children become creative designers! Using Canva, they will learn how to make eye-catching logos, posters and digital designs while exploring the principles of good design: balance, colour, contrast and layout. Each week they will develop new creative skills, plan their own projects and bring their ideas to life on screen.

HIP-HOP DANCE

Our Hip Hop Class is created especially for children interested in learning the foundations of Hip Hop. Using popular and current music, the students start learning dances and choreography quickly as well as learning various dance elements. We provide children with a fun, positive and nurturing environment so they are able to experience the joys of dance, self-expression and movement.

JUNIOR CHOIR

Join our Junior Choir and embark on a harmonious journey of musical exploration! KARATE

This programme focuses on the comprehensive development of karate skills in alignment with our curriculum. Our goal is to contribute to the physical and mental development of children to become better human beings, providing the practical tools that will be useful in areas of their life. Please note this class is twice a week.

LITTLE MUSKETEERS

En-Garde! Little Musketeers is designed for students who have never fenced before. The class is led by our Olympian fencing coach Benoit. Students will use safety fencing swords made from flexible plastic which light up when they touch their opponent. Students will wear a safety foil during the class which will be fitted by the coach.

ORCHESTRA

Participation in the BISH Orchestra requires students to be actively enrolled in regular private instrumental lessons, either through the school or with an external provider In order to fully engage with orchestral repertoire, all participants must also be able to read from orchestral scores. All orchestra members are expected to attend two mandatory morning sectional rehearsals each week, and the full orchestra rehearsal held on Tuesday mornings. Please check the morning Sectionals in this brochure. This is a whole academic year activity.

POKÉMON CLUB

Pokémon Club is an after-school enrichment program for students who enjoy learning about the world of Pokémon. During club meetings, students will gather to talk about Pokémon characters, games, and the Pokémon universe. Activities may include learning about different Pokémon types, discussing strategies from the games, sharing favorite Pokémon, participating in themed activities, and showing cards from their personal collections. Students may bring Pokémon cards on club days to show and talk about with friends, but trading will not be allowed. This rule helps prevent disagreements and ensures that all students keep the cards they bring from home

REVERSE CODING

Students build robots in reverse, starting with fully assembled models and discovering how each piece works from the inside out They redesign, troubleshoot and collaborate like real engineers, then bring their creations to life through beginner coding A thrilling mash-up of hands-on engineering and robot programming that builds grit, creativity and teamwork.

STRINGS & PIANO

As part of the BISH Orchestra programme, students in Strings & Piano (limited spaces available depending on the music reading proficiency) will participate in dedicated sectional rehearsals These morning sessions are designed to strengthen ensemble playing, build confidence within each section, and prepare students for full orchestra rehearsals. Participation in these sectionals is an essential component of the orchestra programme and helps ensure a cohesive and highquality performance experience. Students must be taking private lessons, either in school or externally. Students must also be signed up in Orchestra ASA to be able to participate in this activity

TENNIS (INTERMEDIATE)

This specially designed program offers a dynamic blend of personalized coaching, advanced drills, and exhilarating match play, all aimed at honing your skills and taking your game to the next level Whether you're eyeing competition or seeking to elevate your game, our intermediate level tennis program promises an immersive and enriching experience. VIOLIN (BEGINNER/INTERMEDIATE)

Students in the Suzuki Strings Programme will be part of the BISH Orchestra. These sessions will focus on ensemble skills, listening, and early orchestral technique, serving as an essential foundation for participation in the full orchestra. This is a whole academic year activity. This is following on from the introductory violin in the last block. To support their development and ensure they can confidently participate, all Suzuki students must also begin regular private instrumental lessons, either within the school or externally.

VOX NOVA - BOYS SINGING

Vox Nova is a singing group just for boys who want to explore and develop their voices The group provides a fun and supportive space to learn a wide range of songs, build confidence and discover the joy of singing together Whether you’ve sung before or are just starting out, Vox Nova is all about finding your voice and making music as part of a team.

YEAR GROUP: Year 6 - Year 10

WIND, BRASS & PERCUSSION

If you play any wind or brass instruments, then you can use these sessions to continue to develop your skills We will learn repertoire that will be performed as part of the Orchestra ASA. It is a requirement that students have at least basic note reading skills and are regularly taking lessons on their instrument privately. This is a whole academic year activity. Students must sign up to Orchestra ASA to be able to participate in this activity.
