PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE As we enter into the season of Lent, I begin by expressing my continued gratitude to all parents and grandparents who are able to join us regularly for our monthly Mass celebrations. All are reminded that Mass is offered before school on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings at 7:30 a.m. in our campus chapel. Parents and students are encouraged to attend daily Mass throughout the school year, but most especially during this Lenten season. Additionally, our Family Ministry Program has compiled resources for our families to incorporate into their Lenten journey. Please feel free to review each weekly resource that will be sent along with my Sunday email message to all parents.

Registration for the 2019-2020 school year continues for all current Lancers. All current freshman students planning to return to Bishop Amat next school year should have already submitted all completed registration paperwork to their counselor. Current sophomore students begin the re-registration process on Thursday, March 7 with all completed paperwork due on March 28. The $300 Registration Fee- Part I is included on the March tuition statement for all current students in grades nine through eleven. Please be sure to read the article enclosed regarding the course registration process.

Additionally, the tuition and fees schedule for the 2019-2020 school year has been determined as shown on the enclosed Schedule of Financial Obligations.

While every effort is made to keep our tuition and fees affordable for our families, the enclosed schedule does include an increase of $25 per month for onestudent tuition. Substantial tuition discounts have been maintained for multiple-student families as delineated in the enclosure.

STUDENT SERVICES There will be a Mills uniform sale on Saturday, March 9 from 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. in the library. This will be the last on-campus sale before the end of the year so parents are encouraged to stop by if you are in need of any items to get your son/ daughter through this school year.

MOTHER SON DANCE INFORMATION The Mother/Son Dance will take place on Saturday, March 30 from 6-10:00 p.m. in the Carroll Center.

Regular price tickets are now available online through the Bishop Amat website until Thursday, March 21 for $40 per person.

DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME As Daylight Saving Time approaches, we would like to remind students and parents the importance of arriving to school on time. This sometimes becomes difficult for students due to the time change. We kindly ask parents to do what they can to ensure that their son/daughter arrive to school on time. School start time is 7:55 a.m.

FROM THE COUNSELING DEPARTMENT RE-REGISTRATION 2019-20 On February 19, we began the process of registering students for their classes for next year. Counselors are giving students the information and forms necessary for registration during homeroom periods as listed in Lancer Life:

INFIRMARY PARENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED We are in desperate need of parent volunteers for the Infirmary. If you are Virtus certified and are willing to earn some parent hours, please call the Attendance Office (ext. 5876) to sign up for the Infirmary. Keep in mind that parents hours will be due soon. This is a great way to earn some of those hours!

STUDENT DELIVERIES Unfortunately, we continue to have parents making deliveries to students during the school day. We ask that all parents comply with our school policy about no food or personal items deliveries. This is not simply due to lack of storage space, but also for the safety of our students and campus.

Counselors are meeting with students individually to talk with them about which classes they might want to take and to make sure that they meet the pre-requisites for these classes. It is up to the student and parents, however, to ultimately choose classes, and to choose alternate classes that may be needed to resolve any conflicts when schedules are finalized. Both parent and student must sign the registration form, and the Billing/Computer Information Form before they are ultimately submitted to the student’s counselor.

As a reminder, parents are encouraged to monitor their student’s grades via the online parent portal and communicate with teachers via email whenever questions or concerns arise.

For parents of current seniors, graduation season is right around the corner. This month, I begin my visits to senior Theology classes to discuss the various requirements and policies related to graduation in addition to highlighting the events planned for them in the days leading up to the May 31 commencement ceremony.

All information provided to senior students will be shared with parents via the graduation packet mailed to homes during the week of March 11.

Lastly, the Archdiocesan Department of Catholic Schools asks that all provide feedback of their experience via the annual parent survey. The link to the survey is provided in the March 10 weekly email, but can also be accessed at the following address: https://www. surveymonkey.com/r/VV3BNH9. Please take a few moments to complete the survey as soon as possible.

A NOTE REGARDING PROM 2019 Bishop Amat Prom 2019 will take place at the Disney Grand Californian Hotel on Friday, May 3 from 7:00 – 11:30 p.m. Pre-sale bids will be sold on March 28 and 29, with online regular priced bids going on sale beginning March 30. Please be advised that students with delinquent tuition accounts will not be permitted to attend the Junior/Senior Prom. There are no exceptions made to this policy. Students who have past due accounts will not be permitted to purchase a Prom bid or attend Prom as a guest of another student. All parents are urged to please be mindful of this policy.
