Stonington are all great choices for a Maine foliage escape, sans the leaf peeping crowds. Back in the 1700s Blue Hill was a center for boatbuilding and quarrying but it was not long before the area’s waterfront, wide open spaces, and quietude became a haven for a number of musicians, artists and writers.
