Descubrir a la prominente escritora cubana Dulce María Loynaz desde su faceta de coleccionista apasionada, es la propuesta de la hermosa exposición que acoge el majestuoso Museo Nacional de Artes Decorativas en El Vedado habanero. Con el título «Dulce María Loynaz y el arte de coleccionar» invita a un fascinante viaje por la vida de la reconocida poetisa, su mundo interior, cotidianidad, entorno y objetos que ambientaron su casa. Las piezas conforman tres compilaciones fundamentales que atesoró la distinguida exponente de las letras cubanas a lo largo de su vida, y que reflejan su afán de coleccionar, pues más allá de adquirirlos se aprecia su interés en conservarlos, clasificarlos y estudiarlos minuciosamente.

Discovering prominent Cuban writer Dulce Maria Loynaz from her side as a passionate collector is the proposal of the beautiful exhibition hosted by the magnificent Museo Nacional de Artes Decorativas in El Vedado, Havana. Entitled “Dulce María Loynaz y el arte de coleccionar” (Dulce María Loynaz and the Art of Collecting), the exhibition invites visitors to a fascinating journey through the life of the renowned poet, her inner world, everyday life, environment and the objects that furnished her home. The pieces make up three main collections that Duce María Loynaz treasured throughout her life, showing her eagerness to collect, because more than just acquiring them, her interest in preserving, classifying and studying them in detail can be appreciated.

En la exhibición resalta el conjunto de «algo tan mío y tan amado por mí como mis abanicos», según expresara Dulce María durante su primera exposición en enero de 1958 realizada en el capitalino Museo de Bellas Artes. Exotismo, elegancia y belleza se mezclan en la gran diversidad de estilos, formas, colores, tamaños, tipologías y materiales de estos abanicos provenientes de distintos países. Apreciarlos supone acercarse a la variedad de historias, épocas y vivencias reflejadas desde la hermosura y refinamiento que distingue su más importante colección. A nivel mundial, constituye una de las más abarcadoras de este tipo, atesoradas por personas naturales. Resulta además, una de las más completas y que de acuerdo a la escritora, está superada solo por la de los Duques de Alba en España.

The exhibition highlights the collection of “something as personal and beloved to me as my fans”, as Dulce María said during her first exhibition in January 1958, held at the Museo de Bellas Artes in Havana. Exoticism, elegance and beauty are mixed in the great diversity of styles, shapes, colors, sizes, types and materials of these fans from different countries. Enjoying them is to approach the range of history, times and experiences expressed in the beauty and elegance that distinguish her most important collection. It is one of the most comprehensive collections of its kind in the world, owned by individuals. It is also one of the most complete and, according to Dulce María, it is only topped by that of the Duke and Duchess of Alba in Spain.

La muestra cuenta con un grupo de tazas de distintas manufacturas y períodos, dispuestas de forma un tanto informal, evocando la manera en que Loynaz las preservaba. De esta forma, desde los más hermosos diseños y tonalidades, transportan a diferentes culturas y países como Japón, China, Francia, Alemania, Inglaterra y España. Se suman pintorescas muñecas que representan memorias de sus numerosos viajes por el mundo y que conservaba agrupadas. Curiosas y coloridas, estas figuras constituyen auténticas cómplices de sus innumerables aventuras y experiencias. Asimismo, desde hermosos muebles pertenecientes al museo, la exposición busca recrear espacios del que fuera el último hogar de Dulce María. Se sirve entonces de fotografías, objetos personales, el detallista inventario manuscrito de sus abanicos e incluso el Premio de Literatura en Lengua Castellana «Miguel de Cervantes» con el que fue galardonada.

The exhibition includes a group of cups of different manufactures and periods, displayed in an informal way, reminding the way in which Loynaz kept them. In this way, from the most beautiful designs and colors, they take us to different cultures and countries such as Japan, China, France, Germany, England and Spain. In addition, there are colorful dolls that represent memories of her many travels around the world, which she kept grouped together. Interesting and colorful, these dolls are authentic witnesses of her countless adventures and experiences. Likewise, using beautiful pieces of furniture belonging to the museum, the exhibition seeks to depict the areas that make up Dulce María's last home. It includes photographs, personal objects, the detailed handwritten inventory of her fans and even the “Miguel de Cervantes” Prize for Literature in the Spanish Language with which she was awarded.

Recorrer las lustrosas vitrinas y fastuoso mobiliario de la sala, es un fascinante encuentro con su espacio íntimo, pasiones, misterios, historias y motivos de inspiración. Emociona vivenciar su talento, encanto y energía a través de las piezas, así como las preferencias estéticas y el gusto por rodearse de formas y objetos en toda su belleza y multiplicidad. Hasta enero de 2023 estará abierta al público esta exhibición, resultado del trabajo curatorial de años de María Rosa Oyarzábal. Promete desde un deslumbrante escenario, trasladar a los visitantes al atrayente y misterioso universo real y mental de Dulce María Loynaz, conocida como la más grande escritora cubana del siglo XX.

Walking through the polished showcases and magnificent furnishings of the room is a fascinating meeting with her intimate world, passions, mysteries, stories and sources of inspiration. It is exciting to experience her talent, charm and energy through the pieces, as well as her aesthetic preferences and taste for surrounding herself with shapes and objects in all their beauty and diversity. This exhibition, the result of years of work by curator María Rosa Oyarzábal, will be open to the public until January 2023. It promises, from a dazzling environment, to transport visitors to the alluring and mysterious real and intellectual universe of Dulce María Loynaz, known as the greatest Cuban writer of the twentieth century.
