PONDERA EFECTOS DE MEDICAMENTO CUBANO CONTRA EL CÁNCER
El Centro de Inmuno Ensayo, (CIE), certificado como Empresa de Alta Tecnología, arriba al aniversario 35 de su fundación con resultados relevantes en la detección de múltiples padecimientos. Su tecnología SUMA reporta un impacto incalculable en la determinación temprana de graves enfermedades; está presente en 2 094 servicios nacionales y 378 laboratorios foráneos; con su auxilio se han realizado más de 157,6 millones de pruebas, de estas, una cifra superior a 11,8 millones para la prevención de la transmisión de infecciones de la madre al feto. Treinta y tres proyectos para el desarrollo de la biología molecular con nueve diagnosticadores, también son producto de la labor del CIE, reconocido a nivel internacional, orgullo de la industria biofarmacéutica cubana.
Roswell Park Institute praises effects of Cuban drug against cancer
A research between the Roswell Park Institute, in the United States, and the Centro de Inmunología Molecular, CIM, (Center for Molecular Immunology), in Havana, showed a new strategy to correct immune dysfunction in cancer patients. The research was published in the Journal for ImmunoTherapy of Cancer by Roswell Park and it praised the finding of a new immune modulator known as VSSP that can significantly reduce myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSC) among people with advanced kidney cancer. At the same time, CIM researchers completed an early-phase clinical trial of VSSP in 15 patients with metastatic kidney cancer; after treatment, the number of MDSCs was significantly reduced, and increased levels of monocytes and dendritic cells were found.
Recientemente fue presentada en Cuba a las máximas autoridades la estrategia para la creación de una vacuna contra el dengue, enfermedad que actualmente presenta una situación compleja en el país. Científicos y expertos presentaron al presidente Miguel Díaz-Canel, y al primer ministro Manuel Marrero, los diferentes pasos de dicha estrategia que nació en 1992, y desarrollan en alianza el Instituto de Medicina Tropical Pedro Kourí (IPK) y el CIGB. Los ponentes advirtieron que es un estudio que requiere tiempo, pero que en su avance se aprecia que es posible de alcanzar por la experiencia de los investigadores cubanos y los tantos conocimientos adquiridos en este universo. The strategy for the creation of a vaccine against dengue, a disease that currently presents a complex situation in the country, was recently presented to the highest authorities in Cuba. Scientists and specialists presented to President Miguel Díaz-Canel and Prime Minister Manuel Marrero the different steps of this strategy, which was born in 1992 and is being developed jointly by the Pedro Kourí Institute of Tropical Medicine (IPK) and the CIGB. The speakers warned this research takes time, but that its progress shows that it is possible to achieve due to the experience of Cuban researchers and the expertise gained in this field.
CIDEM DESCUBRE MOLÉCULA PARA TRATAMIENTO DE ALZHEIMER Y PARKINSON
El Centro de Investigación y Desarrollo de Medicamentos (CIDEM) descubrió que la molécula JM-20 puede servir para el tratamiento del Alzheimer y el Parkinson. Esta institución se dedica al estudio de productos innovadores entre ellos, los empleados en el tratamiento de enfermedades neurodegenerativas; la molécula JM-20, arrojó buenos resultados en el tratamiento de la isquemia cerebral, primera enfermedad neurológica en que se evaluó; durante este proceso los científicos hicieron el descubrimiento. Este proyecto, colaboración entre la Facultad de Química de la Universidad de La Habana y entidades del Grupo Empresarial BioCubaFarma, se inició hace ya diez años y los investigadores prevén comenzar la primera fase de ensayos clínicos en 2023.
CIDEM discovers molecule for the treatment of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease
Centro de Investigación y Desarrollo de Medicamentos, CIDEM, (Center for Research and Development of Medicines) discovered that the JM-20 molecule can be used for the treatment of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. This institution is dedicated to the research of innovative products, among them, those used in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases; the JM-20 molecule showed good results in the treatment of brain ischemia, the first neurological disease in which it was tested; during this process, the scientists made the discovery. This project, a cooperation between the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Havana and institutions of the Grupo Empresarial BioCubaFarma (BioCubaFarma Business Group), began ten years ago and the researchers plan to start the first stage of clinical trials in 2023.
