Y continúa propiciando ovaciones y alimentando ánimos, este encuentro de vuelos encumbrados, uno de los más importantes del mundo, el más antiguo a escala mundial, fundado por tres figuras esenciales de la danza en Cuba: Alicia, Fernando y Alberto Alonso. Como en cada una de sus sesiones anteriores, a lo largo de estos sesenta y dos años, el Festival Internacional de Ballet de La Habana favorece un nutricio intercambio entre bailarines, productores y personal especializado. El público cubano y extranjero ha podido disfrutar de entregas fantásticas, con un nivel superior tanto en majestuosidad de las puestas en escena, como en la técnica impecable. Con sede principal en el Gran Teatro de La Habana “Alicia Alonso” y en las salas Covarrubias y Avellaneda del Teatro Nacional de Cuba, en La Habana, esta alada cita tiene, además, como subsedes, los teatros: Sauto en Matanzas; el Tomás Terry, de Cienfuegos y el Milanés de Pinar del Río.

Like Wings of Light

This meeting of high-flying artists, one of the most important in the world, the oldest in the world, founded by three essential figures of Cuban dance: Alicia, Fernando and Alberto Alonso, continues to bring ovations and to nourish spirits. As in each of its previous events, throughout these sixty-two years, the Havana International Ballet Festival has favored a nourishing exchange among dancers, producers and specialized people. Cuban and foreign audiences have been able to enjoy fantastic performances, with a superior level both in the majesty of the staging and in the flawless technique. With its main venue at the Gran Teatro de La Habana “Alicia Alonso” and the Covarrubias and Avellaneda halls of the National Theater of Cuba in Havana, this ballet festival also has, as sub-venues, the Sauto Theater in Matanzas, the Tomás Terry Theater in Cienfuegos and the Milanés Theater in Pinar del Río.

Después de cuatro años sin efectuarse, este encuentro está siendo una oportunidad exclusiva para el público, de deleitarse con las actuaciones y la obra creadora de figuras estrellas de la danza mundial y de la isla. Una de las sorpresas disfrutadas en esta cita es el regreso de Viengsay Valdés a escena, dando vida a la icónica Giselle, en ocasión del aniversario 77 del debut de la prima ballerina assoluta Alicia Alonso, junto al American Ballet Theatre. Desde que surgió en 1960, el festival ha sido un reto perpetuo de prodigar propuestas artísticas extraordinarias, que satisfacen a un público conocedor, que disfruta con pleno conocimiento, de ese vuelo de ángeles. Esta cita, que nuevamente ha hecho coincidir en escenarios comunes, lo más encumbrado del ballet del orbe, muestra una variada programación, en la que se insertan y confluyen tendencias modernas y diferentes estilos, tanto del Ballet Nacional de Cuba, como de otras compañías internacionales.

After four years without taking place, this meeting is being an exclusive opportunity for the public to enjoy the performances and the creative work of stars of world and Cuban dance. One of the surprises to be enjoyed at this event is the return of Viengsay Valdés to the stage, giving life to the legendary Giselle, on the occasion of the 77th anniversary of the debut of prima ballerina assoluta Alicia Alonso, together with the American Ballet Theatre. Since its creation in 1960, the festival has been a perpetual challenge to offer extraordinary artistic proposals that satisfy a connoisseur audience, who enjoy with full knowledge of ballet dance. This event, which has once again brought together in common stages, the most outstanding ballet artists of the world, shows a varied program, in which modern trends and different styles are included and mixed, both from the National Ballet of Cuba, as well as from other foreign companies.

“Giselle”, “La Cenicienta”, “El lago de los cisnes”, “Verbum”, “Tierra y luna”, “Truenos y relámpagos”, “Un concierto en blanco y negro”, son algunos de los repertorios llevados a escena en este magnífico festival que no termina en su encantamiento pródigo. Y a todo esto se le suman exposiciones relacionadas con el bello arte de los pirouette, arabesque, grand jeté, una de ellas se exhibe en la sala Covarrubias del Teatro Nacional: “Miradas en Pas de deux”, de los fotógrafos Ariel Cecilio Lemus y Maykel Espinosa, con imágenes del festival anterior (2018) y de las más recientes funciones del Ballet Nacional de Cuba, institución Patrimonio de la Cultura Cubana. Continúe pues, haciéndose la luz y el vuelo junto a las más emotivas sinfonías para que se desborde ese espíritu alado de quienes se regocijan entregando pasión y técnica, serenidad e ímpetu. Todavía queda tiempo para disfrutar de esas alas de luz que coinciden y se muestran cercanas. Hasta el 13 de noviembre que culmina el festival, La Habana, cual anfitriona espléndida, abre sus telones para mostrar al mundo esta cita irrepetible.

“Giselle”, “Cinderella”, “Swan Lake”, “Verbum”, “Earth and Moon”, “Thunder and Lightning”, “A Concert in Black and White”, are some of the repertoires staged in this magnificent festival that does not end in its splendid fascination. In addition to all this, there are exhibitions related to ballet dance, one of them is on display in the Covarrubias hall of the National Theater: “Miradas en Pas de deux”, by photographers Ariel Cecilio Lemus and Maykel Espinosa, with images of the previous festival (2018) and of the most recent performances of the National Ballet of Cuba, a Cuban Cultural Heritage institution. Therefore, the light and the flight continue to be performed together with the most emotional symphonies so that the winged spirit of those who enjoy delivering passion and technique, serenity and momentum overflows. There is still time to enjoy those wings of light that coincide and come close. Until November 13, when the festival ends, Havana, like a splendid hostess, opens its curtains to show the world this unrepeatable event.
