El Hotel Meliá Habana siempre se ha distinguido por la calidad de sus servicios. Personal perteneciente a las delegaciones diplomáticas asentada en la isla, funcionarios de firmas extrajeras y residentes foráneos en la mayor de las Antillas aparecen en la lista de clientes potenciales que son atendidos con alta profesionalidad en este centro.

The Hotel Meliá Habana has always stood out for the quality of its services. This venue also has an added value that has been included in its services portfolio for several years: a medical office managed by the Comercializadora de Servicios Médicos Cubanos (CSMC S.A.). Located inside the premises, the clinic has two sections: one for general care for foreign guests and visitors, and another one specialized in dentistry services.

Inés de las Mercedes Martín Ferrer, first-degree general practitioner in charge of this office, said: "In our office we attend both patients and foreign residents who visit the hotel facilities, with a high rate of recurrence, which demonstrates the satisfaction with the service we offer". Personnel belonging to diplomatic delegations based on the island, officials of foreign companies and foreign residents in the largest of the Antilles are among the list of potential clients who are attended with high professionalism in this center.

La nueva realidad

Durante la pandemia de Covid-19 y a partir de la reorganización de los servicios ofertados por el hotel, el objeto de funcionamiento de este consultorio sufrió algunas variaciones ya que, si bien antes de iniciada esta situación excepcional también tenía dentro de su objeto la atención a un grupo de casas de arrendamiento a extranjeros, ahora se sumaba una nueva misión: el seguimiento a los huéspedes allí alojados. Bajo el riesgo de contraer una enfermedad desconocida y enfrascados en una constante lucha por evitar la propagación, las visitas a los dueños de estos inmuebles y el seguimiento a los visitantes resultaba tarea de alto impacto para el país, siempre bajo la máxima de proteger su salud y evitando, en mayor medida, el contacto directo con los visitantes. En un segundo momento y con el inicio del aislamiento en las instalaciones hoteleras, el Hotel Meliá Habana y su servicio de consultorio afrontaron, con una unión catalogada por ambas partes como excepcional, este nuevo reto. Con un seguimiento desde al arribo al país de los huéspedes, hasta la atención diaria durante su estancia en la instalación, el personal médico aseguró en todo momento el cumplimiento de los protocolos sanitarios, evitando la propagación del virus. “Para quien visite por vez primera nuestro país la primera impresión de la calidad de nuestra medicina radica en los que laboramos tanto en aeropuertos como en las instalaciones donde se alojarán, he ahí un incentivo adicional para ofertar siempre un servicio de calidad”, refirió el también Máster en Atención Primaria al Niño, Martín Ferrer.

The new reality

During the Covid-19 pandemic and as a result of the reorganization of the services offered by the hotel, the object of operation of this clinic underwent some changes since, although before the beginning of this exceptional situation it also had within its object the attention to a group of houses rented to foreigners, now a new task was added: the follow-up of the guests staying there. Under the risk of contracting an unknown disease and engaged in a constant struggle to avoid its spread, the visits to the owners of these properties and the follow-up of their guests was a high impact task for the country, always under the principle of protecting their health and avoiding, to a greater extent, direct contact with the visitors. At a second moment and with the beginning of the isolation in hotel facilities, the Meliá Habana Hotel and its consulting service faced this new challenge with a partnership catalogued by both parties as exceptional. With a follow-up from the moment the guests arrived in the country to the daily attention during their stay at the facility, the medical staff ensured compliance with health protocols at all times, thus preventing the spread of the virus. "For those who visit our country for the first time, the first impression of the quality of our medicine lies in those who work both at airports and in the facilities where they will be staying, which is an additional incentive to always offer a quality service," said Martín Ferrer, who also holds a Master's Degree in Primary Child Care.

La actualidad

Con la reapertura del país y la instauración de nuevos protocolos sanitarios a cumplir, el personal médico enclavado en cada una de las instalaciones de SMC no solo vela por mantener la calidad de sus servicios, sino que vigilan cuidadosamente el cumplimiento de todas las medidas sanitarias previstas para esta nueva fase. En los tiempos que corren, la reinserción gradual del destino Cuba dentro del mercado global depende en gran medida de la seguridad sanitaria y la situación epidemiológica que presente el país, de ahí el rol primordial que asumen instalaciones médicas de este tipo como primera línea de enfrentamiento a la pandemia.

The present
