La vacuna cubana Abdala indujo una aparición de anticuerpos superior al 98 por ciento, al aplicarse a 500 menores participantes en el ensayo clínico Ismaelillo. Esta seroconversión resultó en un 99,15 por ciento en los voluntarios de 3 a 11 años y en un 98,28 por ciento en los de 12 a 18 años. El incremento de los títulos de anticuerpos fue de cuatro veces o más a partir de la aplicación de la primera dosis del inmunógeno. A los menores se les administraron dos formulaciones con potencias de 25 y 50 microgramos de Abdala y más del 80 por ciento de los eventos adversos fueron leves y el resto de los indicadores ratificaron su efectividad.

Abdala induced more than 98% antibody titer development in children
The Cuban vaccine Abdala induced an antibody titer of more than 98% when applied to 500 children participating in the Ismaelillo clinical trial. This seroconversion resulted in 99.15% in volunteers aged 3 to 11 years and 98.28% in those aged 12 to 18 years. The increase in antibody titers was fourfold or even higher after the first dose of the immunogen was administered. The children were administered two formulations with potencies of 25 and 50 micrograms of Abdala and more than 80 percent of the adverse reactions were mild and the rest of the indicators confirmed its effectiveness.
VACUNACIÓN DE REFUERZO CONTRA LA COVID-19 EN CUBA
El proceso de vacunación de refuerzo contra la COVID-19 con Soberana Plus dio inicio en La Habana, con la inmunización de los trabajadores de la salud y del grupo empresarial BioCubaFarma, y se extenderá paulatinamente a todas las provincias del país. Posteriormente, comenzó la vacunación a la población en general con Abdala. Ambos inmunógenos han demostrado su idoneidad para estimular la respuesta inmunológica en convalecientes, personas vacunadas con otras formulaciones, como Sputnik y Sinopharm, y en aquellos que han sido inmunizados cinco meses antes con el esquema completo de Soberana 02 más Plus, así como con la propia Abdala. Las dosis de refuerzo garantizan la selección de los clones de memoria y una duración superior de la respuesta inmune.
Booster vaccination against COVID-19 in Cuba
The booster vaccination process against COVID-19 with Soberana Plus began in Havana, with the immunization of health workers and from the BioCubaFarma business group, and will be gradually extended to all provinces of the country. Subsequently, vaccination of the general population began with Abdala. Both immunogens have proven their capability to stimulate the immune response in convalescents, people vaccinated with other formulations, such as Sputnik and Sinopharm, and in those who have been immunized five months earlier with the complete Soberana 02 and Soberana Plus scheme, as well as with Abdala itself. Booster doses ensure selection of memory clones and a longer duration of immune response.
COMPLEJO CIGB-MARIEL COMENZARÁ PRODUCCIÓN DE VACUNA ABDALA
En el pasado mes de noviembre quedó inaugurado en la Zona Especial de Desarrollo Mariel (ZEDM) el Complejo CIGBMariel que comenzará a inicios del venidero año la producción de la vacuna cubana contra la COVID-19, Abdala. La planta moderna cuenta con alta tecnología y equipamiento de primer nivel. Además, dispone de dos líneas de formulación y llenado, una con capacidad para 12 mil unidades por hora y otra de 3 mil. Este es el primero de los tres proyectos de alta tecnología ya aprobados que se establece en la ZEDM. Fue diseñado y construido por especialistas cubanos y su capital de inversión es 100 por ciento nacional.
CIGB-Mariel Complex to start production of Abdala vaccine
Last November, the CIGB-Mariel Complex was inaugurated in the Mariel Special Development Zone (ZEDM), which will begin production of the Cuban vaccine against COVID-19, Abdala, at the beginning of next year. The modern facility is equipped with high technology and first class equipment. It also has two formulation and filling lines, one with a capacity for 12,000 units per hour and the other for 3,000 units per hour. This is the first of the three high-tech projects already approved to be established in the ZEDM. It was designed and built by Cuban specialists and its investment capital is 100 % domestic.
