HIGH-BAND, PAL-M - 60 cycles - 525 lines); d) show on ali relevant documents of exportation ali other Brazilian cities additional to São Paulo where the works will be shown, as well as the city and foreign country to which the works are to be returned at the end of the exhibition; e) attend personally, or be represented ofticially, at the unpacking of the containers at the customs, check the works and sign ali relevant document, as well as attend the packing procedures; f) state clearly if the work to be shown may be sold; g) ali works must be addressed to: "XVII Bienal Internacional de São Paulo" - Fundação Bienal de São' Paulo - Parque Ibirapuera, Portão 3 - São Paulo - Brazil; via "Porto de Santos" - if despatched by sea, or via • Aeroporto de Viracopos" or via • Aeroporto de Congonhas" - if despatched by air. Article 8 - Ali foreign works must accompanied by relevant documents for customs, even if transport is free of charge; a list in triplicate indicating: - the name of the artist - the title of each work - the technique used - size - value/price must be attached to the bill of lading. Article 9 - The works of artists, whether Brazilians or foreigners. must be delivered not later than 15'h August, 1983. Article 10 - The Biennale will be responsible for the costs of: a) transport between the point of importation and the site of the Biennale on arrival and departure, unpacking, display and packing works by foreign participants; b) insurance, unpacking, display and packing, in the case of Brazilian participants. For artists living outside the city of São Paulo and having special permlssion, the Foundation will also cover freight costs, and, in exceptional cases, for participants residing in the city of São Paulo; c) maintenance expenses will only be guaranteed in normal duration and material preservation conditions. Article 11 - Ali costs of special display needs must be met by the artist or persons responsible. Article 12 - Brazilian participants residing in the city of São Paulo must remove their works within 90 days of the closing date, after which the Biennale Foundation will dispose of them at its own convenience and at the owner's risk. Article 13 - According to customs regulations no foreign works of art may remain in Brazil for more than 180 days, after the date of arrival. Chapter li I -

Article 17 - The buyer will be responsible for expenses incurred with the permanent importation of foreign works. The total sum of these expenses will be indicated on the price list. Article 18 - The buyer may only remove the works after the exhibition ends and when ali fees have been fully paid, and, in the case of a foreign work, only after permanent importation procedures have been completed. Article 19 - Ali taxes and banking fees will be deducted from the original price stipulated by the participant. Article 20 - In case of donation, the beneficiary will pay 15% ot the value of the work to the Biennale Foundation and will also be responsible for any taxes and permanent importation charges, if relevant. sole § - Should the beneficiary be a Brazilian governmental entity, it will be exempt from paying 15% to the Biennale Foundation and will only be held responsible for the payment of legal taxes and importation charges. Article 21 - The buyer will pay the total price in Cruzeiros. In the case of foreign works, the amount paid in Cruzeiros (calculated according to the U.S. dollar price on the day the work is bought) will be invested in 'ORTN - Obrigações Reajustáveis do Tesouro Nacional" (oftieial monetary changes made by the Brazilian National Treasury) or any other equivalent public deeds. The sum to be re· mitted to the foreign participant in U.S. dollars will be the equivalent of the value of the above mentioned bonds on the maturity date, up to the limit of the value/price fixed on the entry formo Chapter IV -

General

Article 22 - Apart from taking normal precautions, the São Paulo Biennale Foundation does not accept liability for any domage to works. It is the responsability of exhibitors, or their representatives, to insure the works against possible risks. Article 23 - No works may be removed before the end of the 17'h São Paulo International Biennale. Article 24 - In case of disagreement involving the spelling of an artis1's name, the value of works or any other data, the information contained in the entry form will be held to be correct. Article 25 - The Biennale Foundation will not accept responsibility for the exclusion of those participants, from the general catalogue and/or the exhibition area, who fail to meet the deadlines both for the arrival of the works and the presentation of full documents. Article 26 - The signature on the entry form commits the partici· pant to abide by these regulations. Article 27 - Any special cases, not covered by these regulations, will be decided by the Board of Directors of the São Paulo Biennale Foundation which will take necessary action following a hearing by the Council for Art and Culture if the case is in its competence. Sales

Article 14 - Ali sales of works from the 17'h Biennale will be made exclusively through the Sales Department of the Biennale Foundation Article 15 - The prices of works for sale must be shown on the entry forms. Prices of foreign works must be stated in U.S. dollars on ali relevant documents, and no subsequent alterations will be allowed. Article 16 - The Biennale Foundation is entitled to 15% of the selling price set by the exhibitor.
