STUDENTS’ COMMENTS:
The Kansas exchange was an amazing experience for so many reasons, for example: you go to another Sion school with different characteristics from ours, which is a high school only for girls. You also get to choose your own schedule and visit other cities of Missouri. Moreover, my chaperones treated me as part of their own family, even though they have different traditions than my own. If you get the chance to go to the exchange, you should go, because is an unforgettable experience. By Diana Jiménez Salazar 11-A

I think the exchange was a great learning opportunity; it really lets you see how different cultures interact in different places. Overall, it was amazing, I think you can grow a lot as a person when you travel by yourself and see things through other people’s perspective. If you are thinking about participating in the exchange, I think you should do it. By Gianpietro Pesenti Salazar 11-A
At the beginning of this year I had the experience of participating in the exchange to Kansas and for me it was very interesting to know a school of Sion with a different educational system, which allowed us to suggest different ideas to implement in our institution and also to highlight positive aspects that this one has. One of the most beautiful things I experienced was knowing and appreciating, in such a short time, the people who at first were totally strangers and, at the end, they ended up being a special part of my life. With the support of the teachers, we managed to overcome each challenge and had unforgettable moments. By Sofía Trigueros Briceño 11-B
It's impossible to know what to expect about a trip like this. As a student it was wonderful to see how each school is different, from subjects to interior. The family, in my opinion was nice and homey, paying attention to what one wants and taking us to different places to visit. They took me to Chicago, which by itself was a great experience, going to new places and seeing new sights, acquiring information about it. It was awesome to experience another culture and becoming part of it for a bit, it feels like being accepted as part of the family. I made a new friend which I hope that will stay in touch with for a long time.

Introduction
A teacher’s challenge is to help students feel confident enough to express their own opinions publicly. Either it is a universal phenomenon or an unspoken rule, the students that in the recess talk about their opinions until the last minute; they fall silent in the classrooms the next. Once the students cross our doors, they lose their boldness, and for some reason, sharing their opinions becomes a terrifying challenge. Teachers must face this phenomenon daily. The reality is that the time in the class is never more rewarding than when the students are willing to share their opinions. This is the reason why we have been working on a new section for the school bulletin where we share some of the students’ opinions. As part of the effort from the language department, we have taken into account the students’ written opinion about things related to their school. Grammar and spelling were checked as well as the respectful manner in which they were written. We thank you so much for all the support you have given your children in this assignment.
I DON’T WANT TO DO THIS ALONE
A lot of people will tell you that high school is the most boring, tiresome and weirdest phase, others will tell you that high school is the best, funniest, and most enjoyable experience you will have. But, who is right? It depends on the way you see it, for example when someone says “high school”, the only things you think about are homework and boring classes, you are already making it very difficult for yourself. I have been in high school for a few years but I am having so much fun, if you go through this experience you shouldn’t do it alone.
P.E UNIFORMS Anonymous 9-C
When I talk to my friends, the topic of the Physical Education uniforms comes out, since many of us do not like those uniforms. As we already know the uniforms are "unisex" and many women are uncomfortable with the shorts as they are designed for men. The cloth of the uniform is not liked by all students because it makes us sweat more. Also, the color of the uniform, the red one is not to the liking of all of us, since it is a bright red. One piece of advice that I would like to give you is to make the uniform with a neutral color and that the cloth may be different, so that it does not mark the sweat of the person. The body of men is different from the body of women. My opinion is that the uniforms should be focus on the body of both sexes and not just one, so women and men feel comfortable. Some women do not feel comfortable wearing shorts and a good solution for this would be to have sports lycra. I hope that some of these ideas help, so that at any time the school can change the P.E uniforms and that the students feel comfortable wearing them.

MY HOBBY
One of the activities in the school that I most like is reading books. Sometimes it looks like reading a book is boring and is a waste of time, but for me is a hobby that I love. I really don’t care if it is in Spanish or English because it can be the same book but in a different language. People have different likes and dislikes, it happens the same thing with books, they have different categories like: suspense, science, terror, comedy… you must find your ideal type of book. Sometimes I spend hours and hours reading books and time flies by so fast because you are into the story so much, you don’t even know what’s happening around you. My favorite type of book is suspense, history, and science. I recommend to the people to read a book and you will find how entertaining it is, but there are people that don’t like to read and I respect that. Jose Retana 9-B
THE WHITE SHADOW
Once upon a time there were 7 children in the art exhibition at the school in 2012, every year in this art celebration, people go around the school to see how it looks at night. That night something was scaring young children. The school of those children is a nun school, so there are a lot of nuns that have died there. They were in the math classroom when the first shadow appeared, they thought it was their imagination, so they continued with the trip, but when they started seeing more shadows, they got scared. They saw that the lights were turning on and off, so they ran as fast as they could and told the first adult they saw but he didn’t believe them, so they told their story to the security guard, he told them that they had seen the spirit of a nun and he also told them that sometimes the dogs start acting out and barking some nights.

A NEW UNIFORM IDEA
When I talk about Sion I talk about all the beautiful things that this high school has, but when I talk about the physical education uniform it isn’t that good. I like our uniform, the one the we wear every day, it is comfortable and pretty but the one that we wear every time when we do sports it isn’t that pretty. I have an idea to change that uniform. Maybe we can wear like a grey t-shirt with the shield in red color and red shorts or maybe blue shorts. I tell you this because in Sion they always listen to us, and this is an idea that maybe can help us a little bit to be more comfortable and happier when we go to physical education.

THE PERSON THAT I ADMIRE
The person that I admire is a special someone. It is a person who started in life with nothing and now he has everything for me … It is not for the material things, but for what he has obtained with his effort. For me, he is a hero ... he helps the needy and he always works hard to get more out of life. He is my grandfather, a very special someone for me, he teaches me things about life and that it is necessary to work hard to be able to achieve big things in life. He helps a family that has a daughter with special needs... he gave them a house, clothes, and money... and for me, it was very pretty. Every scold that he gives to my uncles and to my dad is for a good reason. Every day he gets up at 5:00 a.m., and comes back to the house at 8 p.m. This is a bit of what I admire about him.

THE BAND OF MY SCHOOL
I have been in the school band since I was in fourth grade. I think that being in it can change you a little bit on a good way. In my case I have become more responsible and I have learned to appreciate more different things. Besides learning how to play an instrument, you learn about the story of the songs you play and interesting details. You get to have new experiences and you get to meet new people. There are a lot of instruments and you can choose the one you like or the one you get to play. The band is always trying to improve and to play new songs for the people to enjoy. If you want to try something new, interesting and funny, I think you should get in the band. The only thing you need is the desire of learning and trying.

ONE OF MANY THINGS I LIKE ABOUT HIGH SCHOOL
High school for me is a very important part of my life and how not to be if we spend half of our time there. What I like the most about high school is that I get to share it with my friends. I think that without them it would not be the same every day. They are always for me at all times, in the sad, funny and weird moments. Through all the years that I have been in Sion, I have been able to meet many people who have taught me many values and also to identify people who are true friends. I have known many of my classmates since I was in kindergarten, we have gone through many things and many beautiful and funny experiences. It is very exciting when we start talking about the things that happened when we were children. I really like to share with people and keep making experiences with them. I think that this stage in high school will be unforgettable in my life.

HOW IS THIS YEAR GOING TO BE FOR ME?
Last year was good but I made a review of everything I lived and I decided to make a few changes. That’s why I am sure this year is going to be one of the best, since we are going to live many beautiful experiences. It's going to be a year of doing new things, the “Sweet Fifteen” parties are coming up, and the “Confirma”. In the academic part, I want to improve a lot my grades and put more interest in them. Also, I want to meet more people, maybe from different levels, this way I can hang out more often. I want to improve my volleyball skills, so I am going to practice harder in order to be a really good player. This year I am going to participate in the Volleyball National Games, I’m very happy and excited about it. I hope this year is as good as I think.
