“Stepping out of your comfort zone and trying new things is the best way to grow”
A new school year is always full of new challenges; and this one in particular wasn’t the exception. At the beginning of the year our teacher showed us some videos that were made by Sion High school’s students from Kansas City. They wanted to know things about our country, school and our language proficiency. So, we started recording videos to answer the questions.
Working on these kind of projects is always a great experience. But, the fact we were introducing ourselves to foreign students it was even more difficult for us.

We recorded two videos; one of them was about our beautiful country and the second one was like “a day in a life” of a Sion student in Costa Rica. We truly enjoyed the process of making these videos because we had to search information about Costa Rica, and how our high school works. Other students felt anxious when recording the video because they didn’t know what the other students would think about it. But in general, I think all the eight graders would do it again because we loved trying new activities and because it was very funny to talk to foreign students and getting to know each other.

Despite the fact we felt awkward and so, we think it was a great idea to do this video because we learned and practiced the language a lot in a different environment, plus it was a great feeling when our the teacher told that our friends from Kansas loved the video we sent them!
