In this Edition | Welcome & renewal update MEMBERNEWS March 2024

Hello from me!

Dear Members,

I am delighted to have recently joined Wycombe Heights Golf Club as Interim General Manager.

I come with wealth of experience from 32 years in the golf club industry and plan to work hard with the team to develop and continue to improve the course and club until a permanent successor is in post.

Golf is in my blood having worked in the golf industry since 1992, spending that last 7 years as General Manager at Saffron Walden Golf Club. Prior to this, I held a variety of managerial roles with Moor Park, Chigwell , Brookman's Park , Cheshunt Park, Trent Park Golf Club, Marriott Hanbury Manor Hotel & Country Club, and was a Golf Professional in Dubai.

For my sins, I am still a PGA Professional however, do not expect this to reflect in the quality of my golf.

I am advocate of being available to members and aim to see members out and about in the clubhouse and on the course and look forward to meeting many of you over the coming weeks and months.

Although I am only going to be at the club for a few months, I hope to make a lasting impression, and help the experienced and capable team to get the club ready for the season.

Best regards

More than just a course!

Don’t forget, Wycombe Heights Golf Centre is more that just a course!!!

Our Mother’s Day lunch returns on Sunday 10th March. Mother’s Day was a great success with over 90 attendees and two sittings, so this is an event we are excited to bring back. Bring Mum along to Wycombe Heights for a two-course set menu and a gift!

Later in the Spring, our focus turns to Easter, with our Short Course Easter event running all Easter weekend. Enjoy golf & an Easter Egg hunt on the Short Course followed by a burger & chips in the Clubhouse. Your kids and grandkids won’t want to miss this!

Later in April, we will be running a Masters-themed event at the Driving Range to coincide with the live coverage of The Masters – more information on that to follow!

Don’t forget, all events can be booked with the Sales team or directly here:

General Manager s Renewal Invitation

Over the last year we have continued to invest in the club and course. The course team have been extremely busy and are close to finishing the bunker renovations, greens maintenance work and agronomic work on the rest of the course to get ready for the season.

On the week commencing 26th February the contractors filled the bunkers with new sand, this will be left to settle for a couple of weeks before we fully open them. However, I am sure you will have already seen the improvements in their design and condition.

Whilst the courses are our biggest asset, we continue to look at all aspects of the club, including the driving range, clubhouse and par three course. We are currently identifying areas for improvement, with the aim to have several of these completed in the next two months.

With high inflationary pressures, and the need to invest in the basic infrastructure of the club, as highlighted above, we have had to increase our subscription rates across all categories of membership for 2024/25.

Maintenance work has been completed on the greens, although this work is disruptive to golf, it is essential to ensure we provide the best conditions for strong grass coverage as we head into the season. All of this work is completed in-house and thanks to our greens staff, lead by our Course Manager Stuart, who since arriving has made huge improvements to the overall condition and presentation of the course.

I hope you will agree, that the course is in exceptional condition, especially given the recent weather conditions, and I am sure this will continue into the golfing season.

However, we believe Wycombe Heights’ fees remain competitive compared to other local clubs of a similar standard.

If you wish to discuss your membership, then please do let the Sales Office know as soon as possible.

Thank you for your continued support and I hope you have an enjoyable and successful golfing year in
