The FLOWERS TODAY have been given by James and Val Muff. CHILDREN’S SPACE will not meet today due to half-term, but they will meet next Sunday 1st March as usual at the start of the 10.15am service. THIS WEEK AND BEYOND FAIRTRADE FORTNIGHT starts tomorrow the 24th and we will hold what has now become our annual FAIRTRADE BREAKFAST next SUNDAY 1st MARCH from 8.45am – 9.45am. Come and share in fellowship with others, whilst enjoying a simple, but delicious breakfast of Fairtrade and local food and drinks. There will be muesli, jam, marmalade, locally made Yorkshire honey, butter and tea and coffee. Donations of £3 are requested to cover costs, which will enable us to donate to the work of Traidcraft Exchange. Sign up at the Fairtrade stall today. Next Sunday at 10.15am we will welcome the Revd Canon Flora Winfield, a member of Chapter, and at 4pm the Revd Canon Kathia Shoesmith, a member of our College of Canons, as our preachers. SILENCE SPACE meets tomorrow on Monday at 1pm in the beautiful and tranquil space of St Aidan’s Chapel. All are welcome. Reservations for the SHROVE TUESDAY PANCAKE LUNCH have now closed. The final numbers have been given to the caterers and the lunch will only be available for people who have booked. Did you know that Pancake races are thought to have begun in 1445. A woman had lost track of the time on Shrove Tuesday, and was busy cooking pancakes in her kitchen. Suddenly she heard the church bell ringing to call people to church for confession. The woman raced out of her house and ran all the way to church; still holding her frying pan and wearing her apron. The WEDNESDAY@1ORGAN RECITAL this Wednesday will feature Irena Kosíková, a Czech organist and composer who was born in Prague. Irena is also a composer and has performed in numerous European countries. The buffet lunch, at £4, will be from 12.30pm – 12.55pm and the recital, which is free, will start at 1pm. There will be a retiring collection in aid of the Organ Fund. Everyone is welcome.
