utomotive repairs are a necessary part of safe driving. The investment made in automotive maintenance should be prudent, and not based only on habit or how close an auto service center is from home. Although changing your auto mechanic isn’t as comfortable as dealing with a familiar face, it may be necessary if recent interactions have made you uneasy. Here are five warning signs that it may be time to search for a new automotive professional to service your car or truck.

1. Answers to your questions leave you more confused.
When a car mechanic cannot explain, in simple language, why your car is acting the way it is, or how the problem can be solved by making certain repairs, you may be dealing with a less skilled mechanic, and it may be time to find a new mechanic.
2. You always feel like you are being sold more than you need. Sometimes mechanics diagnose a problem incorrectly, causing additional repairs to solve the problem. And because automotive diagnosis can also lead to discovery of other repair needs, you can begin to feel that you are too often paying for unnecessary repairs. When that feeling comes too often, it may be time to offer another auto service center your business. 3. Replaced parts aren’t saved for you when you ask. A professional mechanic should have no concern over your request to save replaced parts. Because some mechanics may not be as truthful about replacing parts, and some may also use old parts for other customers, asking for your replaced parts will immediately have you recognized as an informed buyer.
