TRANSFORMING YOUR SPACE Antonia Scott spoke to Mark Atkinson and Mark Bush to hear how their business, Orchard grew from humble beginnings to the success it is today.
The Early Days Orchard began business in 2001 as a modest ‘two men and a van’ set-up, simply fitting PVC windows. In the ensuing 12 years, they have grown into a high-end home improvement service that provides a complete design and installation package for all your Kitchen, Bathroom and Conservatory requirements. There are now two showrooms in Stamford, one dedicated to Kitchens, Bedrooms and Bathrooms, which Maxine Couch the Head Designer oversees, and the other showcasing various styles of Orangeries, Conservatories, energy efficient windows and doors, along with the latest ‘Ultraframe Glass Roofing’ systems. Now with a fleet of 12 vans employing 20 people, Orchard predominantly works locally, but are also able to travel nationwide for larger projects. GROWING EXPERTISE Matthew Rudkin joined Orchard 2 years ago to head up a new division: Orchard Building Contractors Ltd. He brought a wealth of knowledge and understanding of how to manage and deliver large scale construction projects across the country. With his skilled team of Tradesmen, Matthew ensures projects are seen though from planning to completion. This side of the business now has its own dedicated estimating department which will shortly be expanding into new offices. Entire Projects Orchard grew largely because so many of their

clients wanted a company that could manage their whole renovation project, from installing the latest A rated windows throughout the house, or installing bi-folding door systems, to complete kitchen installations that require removing external walls to form large living spaces, or carrying out full house renovations. So Mark decided to create a business that would be able to look after the entire project, including seeking all relevant building regulations, all necessary electrical and gas installations and flooring requirements. He wanted his clients to get complete peace of mind that every aspect was taken care of.
