Stamford AFC Football Development Centre T
he football season may be drawing to a close, but Stamford AFC’s Football Development Centre is preparing to welcome football starved boys and girls, aged between 6 and 11, of all abilities, to a busy summer of inclusive community football activities at Borderville Sports Centre. • “Junior Daniels” is for the youngest players aged 2-7 and runs every Saturday throughout the year in the sports hall, with each age group playing a 45 minute session between 09:15 – 12:00. The cost is only £5 per player. • “Pitch Up & Play” is for children aged 6 -11 every Saturday at 09:30–11:00 between 16th May and 29th August outside on the artificial pitch. The cost is only £1 per player. • “Football Fun Days” are for children aged 6-11 and run on various midweek dates throughout the school holiday period between 10:00 and 15:00. Gagliardi – a new Designer fashion sale in aid of Thorpe Hall Hospice shop for men M
artin George and Gill Van Geest are hosting a fashion show and sale at their private shooting lodge at Blatherwycke Mill in support of Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice. The beautiful lodge in Blatherwycke, east Northamptonshire will be the perfect setting for the sale of good as new and designer fashions on Saturday, May 9. Doors will be open between 11am and 4pm and there will also be a range of stalls selling smart accessories to show off your new outfits to perfection. The event is being supported by Belinda Sly, owner of Sly Boutique in Stamford, and all the money raised will go to the Thorpe Hall Capital Appeal, funding the building of a new hospice at Thorpe Hall in Peterborough. Meet the club members and have a go at one of the Open Days, on 9 & 16 May at the Recreation Ground courts, from 2-6pm. Regular playing times are: Tuesday 2 - 5 pm; Thursday 6 - 9 pm; Saturday 2 - 6 pm • Membership fee is £35 for the season, visitor fees (up to 3 visits) £1 during the week & £3 on Saturday including tea.

tamford will be the first UK shop for Gagliardi, a new men’s global lifestyle brand. The shop is opening in May, and will be run by Richard & Gayle Wailes who live in Stamford. Richard is a former manufacturing director at Crew, and Gayle a fashion designer. “We are considering five other locations such as Cambridge & Harrogate & will use Stamford in the first year to understand how to build the brand here.” The range is a full offer from suits to socks. A lot of the product is manufactured with European fabrics. “We have unique agreements with prestigious Northern Italian mills Cerruti & Zegna to use their tailoring fabrics for the brand. ports Bash is returning for the 4th consecutive year with a Matt Hampson XI against the newly formed Help For Heroes XI on July 23rd followed by England Masters XI vs Local Legends XI on July 24th. Both are T20 matches. Last year’s event raised £31,500 for charity which went to the Thorpe Hall Hospice Appeal and Matt Hampson Foundation, who donated monies raised for them to Seb Goold, the Stamford Junior School boy who is now recovering from his ordeal of last year. This year’s event will see climbing wall, a golf challenge, 45m inflatable assault course, giant slide, gladiator challenge, bungee run and a little ones bouncy castle. All of which is inclusive in the ticket price. The usual beer tent, Pimms bar and food stalls will be available on the day. • Tickets are on sale from May 1st at www. sportbash.co.uk, advanced discounted tickets: adult (aged 12+) from £10 and child (11-6) from £7.50 with under 5s free of charge (ticket still required).
