Simply Thierry

Thierry Daugeron is a Chef for all occasions, as Nicholas Rudd-Jones discovered

T

hierry Daugeron has become Stamford’s adopted ‘French chef’- with his thick French accent, bonhomie and superb culinary skills, he’s a great asset to the town and is often to be found helping out at shows or giving cookery demonstrations Simply Thierry Signature Events Thierry’s most significant business is catering for special events, be they weddings, birthday parties, hen parties, corporate events, funeral wakes or private dinner parties. His smallest event has been a dinner party for 4 and his biggest event a barbecue party for 750. Thierry’s company is able to sort the whole event, not just the catering. The marquee, linen, glasses, cutlery, seating, entertainment and flowers can all be looked after; And Thierry takes personal responsibility for ensuring that everything is exactly right. “I keep my hand on everything,” Thierry told me, “I like to control every single detail of an event, and if I need to do it myself I will. I insist on high quality and high quality control.” Of course it’s the food that Thierry produces that is what we remember most, and it never disappoints. Thierry has eight chefs at his disposal so he is able to deal with a wide range of requests and also serve top quality food to large numbers, be it classic French or Thai Fusion! Simply Thierry at Home Thierry’s second business is specialist food products, selling jams, chutneys, dressings and sauces. They are available in Stamford at the

Stamford Cheese Cellar in St Mary’s St. All the recipes are created by Thierry and their inventiveness makes them stand out from the crowd. Two recent favourites are Pear & Vanilla Chutney and Apple & Chilli Jelly. Thierry is inspired by trips around Europe, and a recent trip to Marseilles has got him thinking abut pestos and vegetable dressings, so we expect them to join the range soon! Simply Thierry Cookery School Thierry’s third business and one he is very passionate about is the Cookery School in Brownlow St. Here he has a class that comfortably accommodates ten people and allows him to share his enthusiasm and expertise with others. He also invites a series of guest chefs along to teach specific cuisines or techniques, so there is something for everyone to learn. A list of upcoming courses can be found at www.stamfordcookeryschool. co.uk. He is also an enthusiast for teaching youngsters. Each year he runs the Junior Masterchef competition, in partnership with Le Creuset for whom he is their regional ambassador. “I can’t believe how competitive kids are!” he told me “I love doing it…sharing the knowledge…meeting all types of new people. And I find people go away with fresh enthusiasm to try out something new. I love it and enjoy it and get a buzz out of every single course.” • Stamford Cookery School, Unit 3C, Brownlow Street, Stamford, PE9 2EL.
