A very experienced Head Chef, James, had worked for some years at The Old Bridge at Huntingdon. These days he is very busy with his new project and has a great range of courses on offer, from pizza and beer to Thai cooking. Accommodation is available at The Red Lion. The School of Artisan Food Worksop, S80 3LR 01909 532171 www.schoolofartisanfood.org Opened in 2006 in the Old Fire Station premises on Welbeck Estate, in the heart of Sherwood Forest, The School of Artisan Food became 2014 British Cookery School Awards Winner. This not-for-profit organisation provides training in bread making, cheese making, butchery etc. The school’s ethos is to teach all aspects of artisan food production.

It offers a unique opportunity for people of all skill levels to expand their knowledge through a wide range of short courses from Food for Health, British Pies, Artisan Charcuterie, Patisserie, Preserves and Pickles and also features a one year Advanced Diploma. With 2 large wood-fired ovens it is the perfect location to teach aspiring artisan bakers. Bursaries are available to help assist Advanced Diploma students with course fees. The Cambridge Cookery School Purbeck Road, CB2 8EB 01223 247260 www.cambridgecookeryschool.com Founded in 2008 and winners of the UK’s Best Cookery School in 2013, The Cambridge Cookery School has courses available for every age and level of cook. All classes are completely hands on and include coffee/tea/ welcome drink, a full meal with wine, recipe pack, aprons, equipment and ingredients. Day courses are very popular with titles such as Saucy, Sourdough Sunday, Knife Skills and Seasonal Italian. During the summer holidays a number of child/teen friendly courses are run under Summer Holiday Specials, such as Garden Tea Party and Tapas for Teens. The school is approved to run residential courses for Duke of Edinburgh Gold awards with a course titled D of E/Cooking for Uni. This 5 day course can be residential and is based on cooking food suited to a student budget. It is meant to give students skills and confidence to cook healthy and delicious food.
