Statement: It is time for a change – I am running for Benton City Council to help facilitate the growth of our city. As a Benton City resident, it has been despairing to see the rapid growth of the area yet have little to no real growth in services for our city’s expanding population. While it is easy to stand from afar and assign blame, I am choosing to do the same as when I became president of BCR. Specifically, to roll up my sleeves, recognize what needs to be done, effectively coordinate with others, and push forward to make progress happen. There are several pressing issues weighing down our city that require immediate attention – drug and thievery problems, lack of amenities for children, and limited support for small businesses. I believe that these issues are rooted in the fact that our city’s elected officials have lost the ability to work together and more so put the interests of the citizens first. It is time for the dissension of our city’s elected officials to stop, and instead unite by using the city’s resources to support our kids and make improvements to our town that benefit the entire community.
