MALT SHOVEL
BEER SCHOOL
With great beer comes great responsibility! In it’s seventh year of operation our Boat Shed Bar has become a beacon for craft beer lovers, with a dedicated selection of our taps allocated to a highly curated list of the hard to get, limited releases and small batch domestically brewed beers. So how does our team keep up to date on the latest “beerformation” you wonder? Answer: We taste, we talk and we train! Earlier this year, the bar team sat down with the Malt Shovel Beer School to build upon their craft beer knowledge. The three week program took our team on a deep dive into the core ingredients in our beers of malt, water, hops, and yeast while looking at what else is added to the beers we serve, and why. They compared three distinctly different styles of beer and debated what makes them fall into each category. The final week of training involved discussing in detail various styles of beer we see tapped in the Boat Shed Bar with a focus on the current Australian craft beer trend in pale ales.
"It’s harder than you think to recommend a beer” says Boat Shed Bar Team Leader Rowan.
“We want to make sure that each beer we serve is enjoyed. In depth training sessions help our team to confidently identify a good match between what’s on our taps and various tastes of our customers." What’s Row’s beer recommendation? “You cannot go past our craft beer paddle, its only $18 and you get a good selection of four different beers that we can help you select.” The Boat Shed Bar located inside the Club, is the home of independent craft beer and fine wine enthusiasts. If you are visiting us, simply take a left turn after reception down the hallway to explore everything The Boat Shed Bar has to offer. The Boat Shed Bar is open from 5pm to late on Wednesday to Saturday. On Sundays the bar is open from 12pm to 7pm.
