CAMPUS LIFE ++ : LANDSCAPELOOM

Bang Khun Thian is a district located in the southwestern part of Bangkok, Thailand, along the Gulf of Thailand. It features a mix of urban and suburban areas, with a diverse population engaged in activities such as fishing, agriculture, and local commerce.

Total site area = 5200 sq.m.

The site is easy access and between the Dormitory and institution and close to main entrance which make it highly convenient for students and faculty to utilize the co-working space. It is located within a densely populated area and its surrounded by user circulation routes so it is an opportunity to attract users.

The selected site is surrounded by the pond and green space which give the relax and calm atmosphere from the nature in order to make the space help user to be more concentrate and focus on their work. The location also next to the pathway and does not far away from the entrance of campus so people from community and student from surroundings area can easily access to the program

Inspiration : Sewing pattern

integrating the building with its natural surroundings. Instead of creating a structure that stands out against the landscape

COMPUTATIONAL SYSTEM

I utilized Grasshopper to create a curved roof that elegantly follows the pathway's . After lofting it, the roof transformed into a space truss structure using space truss structure tool. Using Grasshopper, I automated the positioning of the column grid by specifying column spans and employing the Divide Curve function for precise distribution along line.

AREA REQUIREMENT

Laminated glass

Comprising tempered glass and a PVB interlayer film, it offers increased strength, impact resistance, and shatterproof qualities.

To achieve the desired structural integrity and aesthetic appeal for the roof, I implemented a space truss structure. This choice offers both strength and flexibility, ensuring the roof can withstand various loads while accommodating the curvature dictated by the pathway. To further enhance the roof's appearance and functionality, I opted for aluminum honeycomb panels as the finishing material. These panels are exceptionally lightweight yet durable, making them ideal for curved roof shapes. Additionally, the honeycomb structure provides excellent strength-to-weight ratio, contributing to the overall efficiency and resilience of the design. By combining a space truss structure with aluminum honeycomb panels, the roof not only achieves structural stability but also exhibits a sleek and modern aesthetic
