BEIT RAYIM SYNAGOGUE TO LOCATE IN THE NEW UJA “JCC NORTH” Beit Rayim Synagogue and School is pleased to announce the signing of a lease with UJA Federation of Toronto for space in their new complex currently under construction on the Joseph and Wolf Lebovic Jewish Community Campus in Vaughan. The new facilities are scheduled to open in the Fall of 2012. With membership of approximately 250 families Beit Rayim has an eighteen year history in Richmond Hill. Originally located in the former USDS building at Bayview and Weldrick, the Conservative Synagogue has been in discussions with UJA regarding its new facility, located just north of Bathurst and Rutherford, for the past year. Weekly Shabbat and holiday services are currently held in the Tanenbaum/CHAT Kimel Family Education Centre also located adjacent to the site of our new home. Beit Rayim, a member of the United Synagogues of Conservative Jews (USCJ), encourages men and women to participate equally in all aspects of its services. This campus will be the hub of the world's fastest growing Jewish community outside of Israel. Beit Rayim anticipates significant membership growth over the next few years, as construction is completed, and as other Jewish organizations follow its lead onto the site. Beit Rayim also operates the area's largest supplementary, conservative Hebrew School with almost 200 children from JK to Grade 7. The school is currently located nearby in a York Region elementary school. Beit Rayim’s President, Larry Miller, said “the new facilities will enable Beit Rayim to provide religious services, programs, and family Simchas in a larger, state-of-the-art Celebration Centre which will have its own on-site kosher caterer. The economics of partnering with UJA by moving into a complex where space is shared with other Jewish organizations works well for an organization like ours where significant growth and changing needs can be best accommodated by this flexible use model.” For more information about Beit Rayim visit the website at www.BeitRayim.org
