Reminder: There is no school on Thursday, September 29th in celebration of Rosh Hashanah. Welcome Michael Jay: This week we welcome Michael Jay to our Shabbat Service. Mr. Jay is presently in his 5th year at the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York City. He expects to become Rabbi Michael Jay in May 2012. Mr. Jay has an interesting background. He had been practicing law for about 15 years when he realized that he needed to pursue a career in the Rabbinate. So for the past 7 years Michael has been studying and lawyering full time as well as functioning as the Rabbinic Intern at this home Synagogue, Congregation Agudath Israel in Caldwell, New Jersey. In this capacity, he has taught in various Jewish educational settings, including Hebrew School, learner’s minyanim, adult education programs and conversion classes. Through a special program supported by USCJ, Michael Jay is looking forward to becoming Beit Rayim’s Rabbinic Intern, effective this September. Please come out this Shabbat and to greet and meet the newest member of our clergy team. Mr. Jay will come to BRHS on Sunday, September 25th to introduce himself to the students. Shabbat honouring BRHS Chidon students: On Saturday, September 24th BRHS Chidon students will be honoured in our Shabbat service at the Beit Midrash (sanctuary) in TanenbaumCHAT at the Kimel Family Education Centre Joseph and Wolf Lebovic Jewish Community Campus, 9600 Bathurst Street, Vaughan School Council Meeting: If you are interested in finding out more about your child’s Jewish education or want to make our school stronger, you are invited to join the School Council. We welcome all parents and thank all volunteers. Monthly School Council meetings are held on Sundays from 9:30 – 11am. The first meeting is on Sunday, September 25th. We hope to see you there. Lulav and Etrog: Beit Rayim is accepting orders for Lulavim and Etrogim so that you can fulfill the mitzvah of waving the Lulav and Etrog this Sukkot. The cost of the set is $45 and all orders must be prepaid by Monday, October 3rd.
