Dear Beit Rayim Hebrew School Parents, School Calendar: You can find the BRHS calendar on our website under the "Back to School" package link or simply by clicking here. Please take a moment to review the calendar periodically because some changes or additions may occur. Family Education Day Grade 3: Siddur Geography Grade 3 Family Education Day is on Sunday, November 13th from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm in the Gym. We invite all Grade 3 parents to participate in this multi-sensory learning experience led by our family educator that relates to the child's curriculum. It is a unique opportunity to learn together with your children in a fun and stimulating environment. Grade 3 parents will receive an invitation via email with all the information. Please RSVP to the school office by Tuesday, November 8th. Kabbalat Shabbat Service: Our first Kabbalat Shabbat service will be held on Friday, November 25th. Save the date! Welcome Shabbat with song and joy! Everyone is welcome! We extend a special invitation to our Grade 6 and 7 students and their families to participate in the Kabbalat Shabbat service. Please RSVP to the school office by November 21st. Click here for more information. Kabbalat Shabbat Sponsors: If you would like to sponsor an upcoming Kabbalat Shabbat service, please contact Grace at 905-889-0276 x 32 or email her at school@beitrayim.org. Tax receipts are issued for donations of $18 or more, and more than one family can sponsor a service. All proceeds go to the Hebrew School Fund. Rabbi Michael Jay: We are excited to announce that Rabbi Michael Jay will be returning to BRHS on Sunday November 6th to work with our students on Parashat Hashavuah and Tefillah. Rabbi Michael Jay is the new Rabbi with Beit Rayim and is accessible to all of our Hebrew School and Synagogue families by email at rabbi@beitrayim.org. Family Education Day Grade 1: Sh’ma Pyjama Party Thanks to all the parents and family who joined us in school and helped make this family education event an amazing learning experience for everyone. Yasher Koach to Steven Greenwood, Morah Miriam Warner and Morah Tamar Lewin for all their effort in putting the program together as well as to parents, family and students for sharing their insights and enthusiasm. Lice Reminder: This is just a precautionary reminder that to avoid any potential issues with lice at the school, we offer the following suggestions: - Check your child’s hair periodically. - Make sure your children don’t share hats or kippot with other children. - If there has been a lice outbreak at your child’s public school and there is the possibility that your child may have been exposed, please have them checked immediately. - If your child is found to have lice, please inform the Beit Rayim Hebrew School office as soon as possible and keep your child home until your doctor tells you that they may return. Beit Rayim monthly Kabbalat Shabbat PJ Library: Join us for a fun, meaningful learning experience for the entire family at Beit Rayim Synagogue’s Kabbalat Shabbat PJ Library story telling. On the first Friday of each month we will be having a family oriented Kabbalat Shabbat service starting off with a story from the renowned PJ Library series of books, presented by Rabbi Michael Jay. Date: November 4th, 2011. Start time: 6:30 pm and will last around one hour. Location: TanenbaumCHAT Kimel Centre, Beit Midrash, 9600 Bathurst Street. PJ Library is an award-winning Jewish family engagement program, mailing free, high-quality Jewish children’s books and music each month. It is funded locally by UJA Federation, the Harold Grinspoon Foundation and generous community philanthropists. Click here to see the flyer. Youth: Kinderkids (JK-Grade 1) and Yeladim (Grade 2-4) Come and join us for an afternoon of trampoline fun at Just Bounce Trampoline Club. Sunday, November 20th from 12:30 to 3:30 pm. Drop off and pick up at Ross Doan P.S. Lunch will be served at Ross Doan P.S. at 12:30 pm sharp. We’ll be taking a school bus to and from Just Bounce. Cost is $13 for shul members and $18 for non members. Optional pizza lunch available for an additional $5.00 (includes two slices of pizza, drink, chips and veggies).
