Join us for a barbecue, a pimms and some rousing live music as we serenade new parents at both the Prep and Senior schools as Bede’s Fest kicks off our welcome weekend.
Bede’s Singers Introductions X4
Wednesday 10 September 1.30 - 2.15pm
Would you like to come and sing as part of a group? These auditions are open to everyone. The Bede’s Singers get to sing at all manner of events throughout the school year: the Christmas carol service, events over the Spring Term, including a ‘Come and Sing’ day, and working with choral conductors of the highest calibre.
Vitamin String Quartet
De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill Tuesday 16 September 7.30pm
Vitamin string quartet will perform the music of Taylor Swift, Bridgerton and Beyond - tickets are open to all pupils - sign up in the Music Department!
Chapel Concert Chapel
Thursday 25 September 2pm
Take some time to relax, decompress and enjoy the talents of our exceptional musicians in a short recital based in the chapel, starting at 2pm and lasting no more than 30 minutes.
Open Morning Music Rooms Saturday 27 September
The music department will play a big part in showcasing the school’s annual open morning: student bands will perform in the music department, the music recording suite will be open for all to visit, and some of our music award holders will serenade in the Recital Room before a talk and welcome from the Head & CEO.
House Music Competition MPH

The annual house music competition is one of the hotly contested inter-house competitions of the Bede’s academic calendar! Houses combine in one evening of joyful music and huge fun , adjudicated by professional musicians, this is one of the major events of the music calendar.

The Railway Children
Glyndebourne Opera House Monday 3 November 11am - 1.15pm
The Railway Children is a collaboration between composer Mark-Anthony Turnage and librettist Rachael Hewer. Based on the classic novel by E. Nesbit, this opera focuses on the quest of the children’s mother to uncover the truth about the mysterious arrest and imprisonment of the father.
Taster Session for BTEC Music ST6
Thursday 6 November 1.45pm
If you are interested in studying BTEC Music at sixth form level, one of the most exciting courses in the school, then sign up for a taster session led by Mr Hopkins. Anyone can take BTEC Music, even if you have not studied music at GCSE.
Junior Concert (First Year, L5, U5)

If you are in Years 9, 10 and 11, then all are welcome to perform at the Junior Concert, held in the Recital Room. This is always a wonderful opportunity to hear our brilliant young musicians in the junior part of the school perform a captivating programme of repertoire.
Piano masterclass with Joanna MacGregor

We are delighted to be hosting a piano masterclass with esteemed pianist, conductor and pedagogue Joanna MacGregor. Joanna is acknowledged as one of the finest pianists of her generation, and is the Head of Keyboard Studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London, as well as being the Principal Conductor of the Brighton Philharmonic Orchestra. We are thrilled that Joanna will be coaching some of our talented musicians in a masterclass in the Recital Room.

Bede’s prepares for Christmas at the school’s carol service held at St. Saviour’s, Eastbourne. The Bede’s Singers serenade the pupils in two services, celebrating the coming festive season in all its beauty and joyfulness.
