Friday the 13th turned out to be a lucky day for the 12th annual Beatitude House Wine Taste and Auction. The event not only sold out, but raised more than $75,000 to Betty Clarke support Beatitude House programs.

Many in this year’s sellout crowd said they come not only for the delicious food, wine, unique auction items and to see old friends but also because it is an opportunity to support a local organization that does so much in the Mahoning Valley. “We are blessed to have the support of so many good people and generous businesses and organizations,” said Sr. Patricia McNicholas, Beatitude House executive director. “Without the community Beatitude House would not be able to continue its mission to transform lives.” Ohio Wine Imports, Superior Beverage Group, and Tri-County Distributors offered not only imported and domestic wines, but also beer for guests to enjoy as they browsed the wide range of auction items available for bid.

Among those items were an AT&T iPad 2 with Wi-Fi and 3G capability, tickets for the Cleveland Indians versus the Texas Rangers, an autographed picture of Hines Ward of the Pittsburgh Steelers and a car care basket with a much sought-after gasoline gift card. Jeff Kelly from Big 106.1, WBBG-FM again served as host for the event. Former Beatitude House clients Marsha Bolan and Mary Wolfcale shared how Beatitude House programs have transformed their lives.
