Headmaster's Welcome

"I am increasingly coming to realise, the enthusiasm of these boys on Amersham Road knows no bounds and every day is embraced with cheer, good humour and an appetite to get involved in everything the school has to offer."

- Nick Baker, Headmaster

Cold, wet and windy in the Spring Term, but there was nothing downbeat or miserable about The Beacon as the boys leapt forward into 2023. As I am increasingly coming to realise, the enthusiasm of these boys on Amersham Road knows no bounds and every day is embraced with cheer, good humour and an appetite to get involved in everything the school has to offer.

Whilst the boys worked industriously in the classroom and we celebrated scholarship success to numerous senior schools, STEM Week, the Festival of Words, MasterCook, the Art Exhibition and Lower School performances showcased the incredible breadth of the educational experience at The Beacon. On the sports field, the boys plundered hundreds of goals in football and conceded very few, whilst on the hockey pitch and the ski slopes, our boys made the national finals.

As much as the school exists for the here and now, we are proud of our history and heritage, and a particular highlight of mine this term was welcoming back the Beacon boys of the 1950s and 1960s. Though much of the premises and school life had changed since their day, the spirit, ethos and culture has clearly remained; Beacon boys of the past are as proud of their school as those from the present.
