Be Kind
“Pupils have an excellent understanding of the importance of both physical and mental well-being. Younger pupils say they are really given time to ‘think’, take time out and reflect on life and learning, through mindfulness activities at lunch time or in tutor time”.

Comic Relief
This year, in aid of Red Nose Day, our School Council boys organised red noses to be purchased throughout the week with all proceeds going to Comic Relief.
There was a non-uniform day fundraiser as well as a joke competition held by our Head Boy, George C. The competition was open to all year groups and was judged by our Head Boy Team.
Random Act of Kindness Day

We celebrated ‘Random Act of Kindness Day’ by encouraging our boys to perform acts of kindness throughout a whole week.
Mr Privett, Head of Self & Society, displayed a ‘Kindness Tree’ outside his classroom encouraging boys to fill it with kind messages written on post-it notes and stuck to the tree.
There was an excellent contribution by all, with various acts of kindness performed for fellow peers and Teachers alike. Our Year 7 boys organised and hosted an excellent cake sale at the school in aid of the Humanitarian Crisis currently happening in Ukraine.

Cakes for Ukraine
They raised a staggering amount totalling £2,474 which was donated to Disasters Emergency Committee, a charity whose aim is to raise funds efficiently at times of crisis overseas.
Our boys showed excellent initiative in organising this and executed it perfectly. A big well done, boys!
Will’s Zip Line Challenge
The Spring term presented a daunting challenge for our Headmaster, Mr Will Phelps. We challenged him to hurtle himself down the world's fastest zip line across the Penrhyn Quarry in Wales. This was in aid of The Headmaster's Bursary Fund, as it was Mr Phelps’ parting wish that deserving boys receive a Beacon education, offering them life-changing opportunities.
We are overwhelmed with the extraordinary generosity from our Beacon Community, raising over £82,000! A huge thank you to everyone who contributed towards this excellent cause.
If you would like to donate towards the Headmaster’s Bursary Fund, you can still do so. Every penny raised helps to make a difference.

Women’s History Month
Women’s History Month is celebrated in March. Led by Mrs Olhausen, Lead Director of Studies (Head of English), a team of our wonderful female Teachers collaborated to mentor our Year 8 boys on the importance of a world that is diverse, equitable and inclusive. To keep the conversation ongoing, weekly Teacher check-ins were initiated.
Our boys were fascinated to hear some personal experiences from our female Teachers who discussed different issues relating to Women’s History.
