Greetings!

BCP AAPS Student Chapter stands as the very first AAPS Student Chapter in Mumbai, established under the guidance of our revered Faculty Advisor, Dr. Alka Mukne. Dr. Mukne's belief in our potential has motivated us to push beyond our limits and strive for excellence. I would like to thank Dr.Mukne for her invaluable support.

Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is progress, and working together is success. The entire team has worked tirelessly through the year to plan events & accomplish them. It was a great pleasure to work with such a diverse and determined team.

We at the Chapter aim to provide students with the perfect platform to gain knowledge in this intriguing field. Our carefully curated events offered students an exciting perspective on pharmacy, while constantly engaging them to create a fun learning environment, fostering innovation and curiosity. Events like Poster Presentations, Graphical Abstract Contest, Infographic Competition, etc. have succeeded in kindling scientific prowess among participants. Moreover, our social media handles constantly feature the latest advancements in the field of pharmaceutical sciences to keep students abreast of the recent trends.

My time as the Chairperson of this prestigious Chapter has helped me grow as a person. I will be forever grateful to the Chapter for everything it has given me.

This Issue 3 of Cognizance will take the reader through the various events and accomplishments of this tenure, reading which you will be able to understand what this Chapter truly stands for. I congratulate the entire team on their meticulous efforts in compiling this remarkable edition. We hope you enjoy reading the issue as much as we enjoyed creating it.

Since its establishment on 11th June 2021, we at the BCP AAPS Student Chapter have strived to provide the perfect medium for pharmacy students, scientists, and industry experts to interact, exchange ideas, and showcase their knowledge of the everfascinating field of pharmaceutical sciences.

Thus, it gives me immense pleasure to present the third edition of 'COGNIZANCE'- our annual newsletter. This newsletter takes the readers through this tenure's engaging highlights and accomplishments.

I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Chapter for allowing me to partake in this remarkable journey. The skills, professionalism, and values instilled in me during my term as Publications Head will surely help me progress in my professional career.

I sincerely thank Dr. Alka Mukne, our esteemed faculty advisor, for guiding and supporting us at every stage.

OUR MISSION Provide a forum for students, academicians, research scientists, and industry experts for networking and knowledge-sharing through webinars/seminars, conferences, and industry visits.

Foster research in various disciplines of pharmaceutical sciences including pharmaceutical technology, bioanalytical sciences, natural medicines, and biotechnology.

Increase the outreach of the Chapter by involving and engaging with students, faculty, and researchers from institutes and universities in nearby areas.

Contribute to the community at large by conducting healthcare campaigns and awareness drives about the correct and rational use of pharmaceutical and biotech products.

Provide students with opportunities for all-round personality development, professional growth, and leadership training through volunteering options. Help instill values of professional ethics and team spirit in students.

COGNIZANCE Dec 2022

DATASCAPES As the year 2022 came to a close, the BCP AAPS Student Chapter organized a submission event called ‘DataScapes’, an infographic-making competition.

Held exclusively for the chapter members, it aimed at providing the participants with an opportunity to test their data organization skills and portray information in a systematic manner.

Participants were to create an infographic on any one of the following 3 topics: 1) Disposal of expired drugs 2) Fixed Dose combinations 3) Antimicrobial resistance The event was announced on 18th December, 2022.

The deadline for submission of infographics was 28th December, until midnight.

The winners were awarded a cash prize of Rs.700, Rs.500 & Rs.300 respectively, along with a Certificate of Merit.

ENIGMA: A MYSTERY HUNT! Enigma Mystery Hunt was the first offline event of the BCP AAPS Student Chapter.

This thrilling event aimed to engage students in a challenging and intellectually stimulating activity, while fostering camaraderie among participants.

The participants were divided into teams, each tasked with deciphering clues and riddles leading to the ultimate prize.

The event concluded with a thrilling twist as teams gathered at the final destination, and the first team to solve the final mystery was awarded a coveted prize.

It not only challenged the participant's intellect but also brought together students from various backgrounds to work collaboratively and have fun.

The BCP AAPS Student Chapter successfully conducted an online technical event: Poster Presentation Competition on 11th June 2023.

The topics for the same were: 1) AI in manufacturing 2) AI in data track and trace 3) AI in clinical studies 4) AI in data security It comprised of two rounds: ROUND 1- Abstract Submission Interested participants were asked to submit an abstract on any one of the given topics and the top 5 abstracts were shortlisted for Round 2.

ROUND 2- Online Poster Presentation Five shortlisted participants presented the posters they had created based on the submitted abstracts. The time limit for the presentation was 10 minutes. Presentations were followed by a Q&A session with the judges. The event was indeed a huge success, with all 5 presenters delivering fantastic presentations that accurately encompassed the applications of AI in the field of pharmacy.

TRIATHLON: LET YOUR MIND RACE !!

The BCP AAPS Student Chapter organized an event called 'TRIATHLON,' which was a unique blend of pharmaceutical information and enjoyment. The key to victory in this event was having a firm grasp of pharmaceutical expertise. The event was designed as an individual competition with three exciting rounds: THE DOUBLE DILEMMA: Part A: Word Guessing - Participants were challenged to decipher gibberish words displayed on the screen.

Part B: Bonus Round - Participants needed to solve phrase puzzles through a Google form to move on to the following segment.

BLUFF BATTLE: This was a strategic contest where pairs competed in naming items inside various categories.

Players had to claim the variety of items they might call, however, their companions ought to challenge them.

This spherical added suspense because it tested both selfassurance and know-how for victory.

ESCAPADE: In the final round, 'ESCAPADE', eight individuals competed in a board recreation.

Climbing ladders and making strategic actions, Avijita Biyani, Ronick Kasat, and Nidhi Vaidya emerged as the winners.

GRAPHICAL.LY The BCP AAPS Student Chapter hosted 'Graphical.ly' -A Graphical Abstract Submission Event in the month of August. The event was announced on 4th August 2023, after which interested individuals had till 10th August 2023 to submit their entries.

The research article shared with the members was titled 'Formulation and Quality Control of Orally Disintegrating Tablets'. Participants were required to create a concise graphical abstract which accurately summarized the concepts described in a research article.

The competition witnessed participation from a total of 7 talented individuals who showcased their graphic design skills and scientific acumen.

After a thorough evaluation of the entries by our esteemed judges, the top 3 participants were recognized for their outstanding work and awarded Certificates of Merit. It was a successful event that celebrated creativity and design excellence within the student community.

PHARMAFAIR The BCP AAPS Student Chapter proudly organized the muchanticipated interactive event called PharmaFair, a vibrant and engaging event that brought together students and enthusiasts from our college community. Held on 6th October at the Bombay College of Pharmacy, it showcased various activities, stalls, and competitions.

It featured the following: 1. Food Stalls: A delectable variety of cuisines delighted our taste buds, thanks to the dedicated food stall owners who served mouthwatering dishes. Cash prizes were awarded to the top 2 stalls having the highest revenue.

2. Artwork Stalls: Participants presented Crochet, and resin arts that attendees could purchase as souvenirs.

3. Brand My Product: An engaging competition that challenged participants to market a fictitious pharmaceutical product. It encouraged innovative thinking and strategic marketing skills.

4. Game stalls: The BCP AAPS Student Chapter had also set up game stalls which were such a crowd-pleaser. Engaging games added an extra layer of excitement and competition to the event.

5. Jamming Session: The event's musical highlight, where participants and attendees came together for an enjoyable jamming session, creating an atmosphere of musical harmony.

PharmaFair was an outstanding success, thanks to the dedication and enthusiasm of our student organizers, stall owners, and participants.

It showcased the vibrant culture and talents within our college community.

INSTAGRAM DIARIES In the dynamic realm of pharmaceutical exploration, the BCP AAPS Student Chapter has remained a shining beacon of knowledge and innovation. Our Instagram canvas has been a vibrant tapestry, adorned with engaging activities. Beyond event updates and announcements, we cater to our Instagram followers through a diverse range of knowledge-sharing avenues.

Each month, we embarked on a journey of discovery with "PharmaShorts." Every month, through three carefully curated posts, we delved into the latest research gems from across the globe. Notable posts included "HIV Cured using Stem Cells," a groundbreaking discovery that held the promise of reshaping the landscape of HIV treatment. Another post highlighted "Gene Therapy Studies Identifying Potential New Treatment for Liver Cancer," offering a glimpse into the exciting advancements in the fight against this formidable disease. These posts weren't snapshots, but windows into the transformative potential of pharmaceutical science. Our commitment to infotainment dazzled in engaging Comic Reels exemplified by the "Action of Nitroglycerine Tablet, simplifying complex concepts for all. Using lively and fun animations, these reels added a touch of humor and creativity to our educational content, making it easily digestible and memorable.

"Face-o-Pharm" elevates our Instagram engagement by posing thought-provoking pharmaceutical questions on our story. Those who answer correctly bask in the spotlight on our story, celebrating their expertise and fostering a vibrant learning community. The participation from our Instagram community adds a vibrant pulse to our knowledge-sharing efforts in the world of pharmaceuticals. As we reflect on this year of discovery and creativity, we eagerly anticipate the exciting adventures that lie ahead.

FELICITATION DAY On 29th of September, the tenure of the chapter for 2021-22 came to an end. The Felicitation Day session began with the Office Bearers and Committee Heads sharing their memorable experiences with the entire team followed by some invaluable insights given on the same by the faculty advisor, Dr. Alka Mukne. She pointed out the unforgettable moments of the Chapter and the other members tagged along as well. The event was concluded by distributing the Certificates to all the individuals who were responsible for the success of this Chapter, after which the Executive Team for the next tenure was announced.

COGNIZANCE 2022-2023 ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION At the Plenary Meeting 2023 held on 5th August, the BCP AAPS Student Chapter marked its 2nd anniversary. An all time record number comprising of the Faculty Advisor, Dr. Alka Mukne maam, past Heads and office bearers, the current chapter heads and committee members embraced the events.

The event commenced with the past members sharing their valuable experiences followed by Dr. Alka Mukne maam sharing some valuable insights. This followed the felicitation of Past Office bearers and Heads who were responsible for successful execution of chapter events. National Biotechnology Conference MAY 13-16, 2024 HILTON SAN FRANCISCO UNION SQUARE, SAN FRANCISCO, CA Akin to last year's NBC, this year too, AAPS' NBC will follow a track based structure consisting of two tracks. At NBC, leading scientists will gather to present and debate innovative solutions, gain insight into new emerging trends, and collaborative opportunities within the biotech community.

A tremendous rise in the biologics market has driven significant interest in their discovery and in using novel drug delivery systems to enable drug delivery via different routes.

Science is also gaining ground in the design of protein therapeutics tailored to deliver to specific tissues and methods for bioanalysis.

Hence, the tracks in this NBC deal with discovery, formulation and delivery of new modalities, development for targeted delivery, bioanalytics and data science.

Track 1: Advances in Discovery, Formulation, and Delivery of New Modalities.

Focuses on diverse strategies for the discovery, formulation, and delivery of biologics to address unmet medical needs.

Track 2: Novel Strategies to Advance Biotherapeutic Development.
