One more kick at budget
Staff City of North Battleford councillors and administrators met twice this week to deliberate on administration’s recommendations for the City’s 2016 budget. Mayor Ian Hamilton says they will take one more “kick” at the document Monday, but it appears there will be little, if any, movement from the recommendations put forward.
That will mean tax and utility increases for North Battleford ratepayers. The property tax increase is expected to be up to four per cent, which translates into $59 a year on an average assessment. Utility rates are also going up about $44 a year. The City also remains committed to its infrastructure replacement plans. For more turn to Page 3.

No Grownups Allowed It was Prairie Christmas Family Day at the Western Development Museum in North Battleford Saturday. From noon until 4 p.m., there were crafts and games, balloons, entertainment, food and cultural displays. There was also an exclusive shopping opportunity, open to kids only. Behind the bling of a beaded blind, youngsters could shop to their heart’s content with no parental supervision. See Page 25 and visit www.newsoptimist.ca for more photos from Prairie Christmas Family Day. Photo by Jayne Foster
