EXPERIENCE ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

With a focus on innovation, bold thinking, and academic excellence, Barton professors engage you in meaningful learning opportunities inside and outside of the classroom. With small class sizes, you will become engaged with your professor and your classmates. You may participate in a spirited ethics discussion in Philosophy class, find yourself trekking through a wetland to gather organic samples for Biology lab or collaborate with classmates on a new social media company business model for your Social Entrepreneurship class. Whatever classes you choose, you will critically question the norm by researching, dissecting, analyzing, and finally coming to conclusions that bring the answers fully into focus. You will be challenged to stretch your mind — to consider the facts and opinions from all angles — as you pursue one or more of the 30+ academic majors and strive toward your academic goals.

Wondering about academic support to help you achieve those goals? Look no further! The Georgia Brewer Campion Center for Academic Success offers academic support services through the Sam and Marjorie Ragan Writing Center, the Oral Communication Center, and the Quantitative Literacy Center. Among a variety of services available are peer tutoring, TutorMe online tutoring, and supplemental instruction. Already thinking about graduate studies beyond your baccalaureate degree? Barton offers master’s degrees in Nursing, School Administration, Kinesiology, Criminology and Criminal Justice Sciences, and also a 3+2 M.B.A. in Strategic Leadership that will allow you to graduate with a B.S. and an M.B.A. in just five years.

In this class, you will explore topics related to the academic and social transition from high school to college, learn about Barton and its traditions, and discover more about yourself and your future. You will also focus on topics that support your success at Barton and beyond — engaging with career exploration, considering graduation planning, and understanding how cocurricular experiences enhance personal growth and learning. Purposefully designed for students’ holistic learning and development outside of the classroom, the Barton Blueprint promotes a variety of campus programs (intellectual, cultural, spiritual, and social) for you to also engage in during that first year on campus. And, Barton’s Co-curricular Programs are custom designed with your interests in mind. These immersive campus experiences will engage you in opportunities that allow you to learn and network while pursuing your personal and academic goals.
