Celebrating all of our wonderful charity supporters from page four...

In this edition, we’re shining a spotlight on the incredible external supporters who help make so much of our work possible. From generous donations to creative fundraising efforts, their support continues to make a real difference to patients, families, and staff across the hospital.

We’re also taking a look at what we've been able to fund recently thanks to your continued support— and the positive impact it’s having on our services.

Looking ahead, we’re excited to tell you about upcoming events, including our Memory Walk at Manvers Lake on 19 October and the ever-popular Dragon Boat Race, which promises to be a fun-filled day for all.

Finally, we’ve included some important information about leaving a legacy a lasting way to support future generations of care.

Thank you, as always, for being part of our community. We hope you enjoy reading and feel inspired by what we can achieve together!

SpotlightonourIncredibleSupporters

At the heart of our charity’s success is a diverse and dedicated community of supporters. From trust staff and community groups to local and national businesses, and individuals moved by personal experiences each one plays a vital role in helping us go above and beyond for patients, families, staff and volunteers across our hospital.

Many of our supporters give back in appreciation of the care they or their loved ones have received. Whether it's a thank-you for the compassionate attention they have received, the skill of a clinical team, or the support offered during a difficult time, their generosity often stems from gratitude and admiration for you, our incredible staff.

Others are inspired by the ongoing hard work and dedication shown by teams across the trust and want to make a difference in any way they can. From fundraising challenges and workplace giving to one-off donations and volunteering time, the ways people choose to give are as varied as the stories behind them. No matter the size or form of support, every gesture is deeply appreciated.

These acts of kindness help fund vital projects, enhance patient care, and show our teams just how valued they are.

The following pages are a snapshot of some our most recent external supporters

TheBox,Barnsley

The incredible members of The Box Gym took on a 24hour workout challenge, raising an amazing £6,253 to be split between Barnsley Hospital Charity and Cancer Research UK.

Eighteen dedicated members completed the full 24-hour challenge—an outstanding show of

stamina and commitment— with up to 50 people joining in across different sessions. It was fantastic to see teenage members getting involved too, showing that community spirit and compassion know no age limits.

The Box gym members pumped iron for charity!

We’re so grateful for the hard work, energy, and generosity of everyone who took part.

MapplewellPrimarySchool

Mapplewell Primary School sponsored a star as part of our Shine Bright Christmas event.

Children sang at the event, all of the school did a santa saunter and we hosted a lego walk at the school.

Mapplewell Primary School’s total fundraising to date is an incredible £4,437!!

Some teachers, including the headteacher, are running in this year’s Barnsley 10k too!

Well done, and most of all, thank you all for your support!

Ex-footballers’ CharitySkydive

Mick McCarthy, Nicky Eaden and nine other regulars are doing a charity skydive and are selecting four areas of the trust to benefit from this fundraising as a group.

Fancy doing a skydive yourself? We have spaces in September...

Local artist Neil Richardson donates artwork which is auctioned off and a fantastic afternoon is had by all.

Barnsley Hospital Charity has been supported by two of the special guests with generous donations from events:

We're delighted that Premier Foods have chosen Barnsley Hospital Charity as their Charity of the Year in support of our new Breast Care Appeal. Their enthusiasm and creativity in fundraising have been truly inspiring!

So far, three brave colleagues have taken the plunge with a sponsored shark dive, another three have signed up for the Barnsley 10k, and the team has also organised a fun day for staff and a successful Easter raffle.

In 2023 the team raised an incredible £10,556 for our Make A Memory Appeal in less than a year!

HelpUsTestOurNewWebsite

We are excited to be launching a new website. We’re looking for a couple of volunteers to help us test out our brand-new website before it officially launches. If you can spare a little of your own time, we’d love your help!

We’re especially keen to see how it works across different devices, so if you can try it on a phone, tablet, and laptop/desktop, that would be ideal.

You don’t need any technical skills—just an hour of your time and your honest feedback. Testing can be done in your own time, whenever it’s convenient for you.

If you're interested in helping out, please get in touch. Thanks in advance for your support!
