Well done Ward 30! Find out more about how they reduced falls, page 9

We’ve listened to what you told us in our communications survey and your feedback showed you would like to receive fewer emails. Last year, we introduced Proud News – our weekly celebratory staff magazine, and from Monday, we’ll also bring you a weekly operational update too.

The weekly iBulletin will package need-to-know updates, helping us contain messages in one email and significantly reducing email traffic for everyone.
We’ve set up a form to help you submit your news to Barnsley iBulletin. Fill it in before 3pm on a Thursday with your news for featuring the following Monday.
Remember, if you have news or information to share across our hospital, we can provide you with professional advice about the most appropriate channels and activities to meet your needs.
Emma Parkes
Joint Director of Communication

Issued to all Barnsley Hospital colleagues every Monday, iBulletin keeps you informed about:
Operational, clinical or process-related updates

Notifications about upcoming events
Share your updates with the Trust
Share your short update with us for inclusion in the next edition (or future edition of your choice).

Barnsley Hospital’s first ever Thrive
Together Staff Network Conference
Thursday 26th June was a day dedicated to celebrating diversity, inclusion, and the incredible work of our Staff Networks and Internationally Educated Nurses.
We welcomed 80 attendees to Barnsley Hospital’s first ever Thrive Together Staff Network Conference, held at our very own Education Centre. Colleagues joined us not only from Barnsley but

also from Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals, Rotherham Hospital, South Yorkshire ICB, Sheffield Adult Social Care, and other partner organisations.
The jam-packed agenda included heartfelt staff stories from our internationally educated nurses, inspiring presentations from our Staff Network Chairs, interactive workshops, and a captivating ses i f t k

It was a day that truly showcased the power of our staff networks, offering guidance on how we can keep moving forward and make an even greater positive impact on belonging and wellbeing across BHNFT and beyond.
Attendees left feeling moved, inspired, and reminded of the power of perseverance and purpose, with excellent networking opportunities for all.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who took part, attended, and contributed to making the conference such an inspiring and successful day.
We look forward to sharing more about our learnings from the day over the coming weeks as well as detailed illustrations from our live illustrator Khloe Baker.

Safe,Secure, andAccredited
Barnsley Hospital is one of the first acute hospitals to achieve two important milestones in healthcare security, being awarded both the prestigious ‘Secured Environments’ accreditation and the BS7958 certification for CCTV management.
“This is a proud moment for us,” said Mike Lees, Head of Security Management.
“It is a testament to the dedication and professionalism of our security management and uniform officer teams. Their efforts help ensure Barnsley Hospital remains not just a place of clinical excellence and high-quality patient care, but a safe haven where our patients and staff members feel protected.”

MEET THE TEAM
Ward 31 - Gastroenterology
Our Gastroenterology unit cares for patients with acute conditions including: Upper Gastrointestinal Bleeds, Decompensated Liver Disease, Irritable Bowel Disease, and eating disorders to name a few. We provide 24-hour care for our patients on the ward. The nursing team work alongside the medical team to care for our patients, which includes basic care needs, medication administration, blood product transfusions,
enteral/parenteral feeding, and support in attending for procedures such as Gastroscopy/Colonoscopy and Ascitic Drains.
We’re proud of our achievements, and embrace change. Our recent QI project led to a betweenmeals snack trolley for patients needing extra nutrition, and this year, we were one of the first teams to move forward with paperless handover, helping improve sustainability and reduce costs for the Trust.
