The charity Guide Dogs are appealing for volunteers to support service users in Barnsley and across South Yorkshire “My Sighted Guide” is a fantastic service which supports people with sight loss to get out and about, living more independent and social lives
Full training is provided to become a qualified Sighted Guide. Once completed, volunteers will be carefully matched up with a client and meet up with them roughly once a week to spend 2-3 hours going out to enjoy a range of activities - it might be going out to attend a social/community group, gym/class, having a look round the shops or even just going for a walk, a brew and a chat
Regular, ongoing support is provided. It’ s an opportunity to make a huge difference to someone ’ s life!
The minimum age of this volunteer role is 18
Volunteers are given in-depth training to help them partake in this volunteer role, a great bonus for people wanting to learn more about sight loss! This is delivered in an interactive engaging manner, using a mixture of different learning techniques eg, e-learning modules and face to face workshops Examples of the modules you will be learning include:
Providing sighted guide assistance Different sight loss conditions Managing safeguarding situations

Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to help staff maintain the efficient running of the kitchen You will volunteer as part of a team providing catering services to children and young people and their families and to staff, within the hospice
This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to meet new people and make a real difference to the families that visit Bluebell Wood
Days required: Saturday and Sunday mornings,

Volunteers will support with some or all of the following tasks:
• Hoovering, dusting and general cleaning of all public areas in hospice
• Maintenance of all bed linen, towels etc
• Loading/emptying washing machines
• Mopping floors
• Cleaning and re-stocking bedrooms and bathrooms and toilets
• Deep cleaning routines to stated hygiene standards
• Removing rubbish to appropriate areas
• Other tasks associated with the cleanliness of the hospice as defined by your supervisor

They also need a couple of people to help with dating, storage and packing of the food goods and parcels.

As a Community Event Volunteer, you will predominantly be helping with the set up and management of stalls across the region with official merchandise on offer and accepting donations These are in a large variety of locations, summer galas, outdoor events or inside venues such as shopping centres and supermarkets

When refugees first arrive in the UK, it can be bewildering for them. Navigating a new country and a foreign language is a big challenge, made worse if you have no money and are scared and alone
Care4Calais volunteers meet up with refugees to provide a friendly face and helping hand. They collect and distribute of clothes, shoes, mobile phones and other essentials
They can also help them to access services such as legal aid, English lessons or public transport Whatever your skills or interests - they need your help!

South West Yorkshire Partnership are looking to recruit volunteers who will support both service u and staff in enhancing delivery and engagement with activities within a forensic unit.

As an art and craft volunteer, they would like you to give your time to helping those who have difficulties in this area. All the materials will be provided for you, they just need your creative skills to help direct the service user and staff in creating a box from their memory or old-time music/pictures from bygone days

This role is for those who have attended an Exper Programme self-management course as a partici to be involved in delivering promotional talks about the courses/workshops to community groups and other healthcare teams
As a volunteer champion your role requires you to:

SWYP are looking for volunteers to volunteer in their recovery colleges in Barnsley, Calderdale & Kirklees and Wakefield areas, volunteering alongside staff to support courses run by the recovery colleges
To meet with co-facilitators and help with planning individual courses/workshops
To follow the schemes of work/session plans agreed by the editorial panel
To jointly deliver the course/workshop where at all possible, in a way that all students can understand, using a variety of methods and media
To facilitate the completion of the recovery college documentation with learners as needed, such as induction forms and evaluation forms, and submit these to the college admin staff once complete
To be empathetic and responsive to college, partners, and students’ needs (co-facilitators will have direct contact with students)
To take an active part in all course activities, such as demonstrations and group work
Co-facilitators will be allocated a supervisor who they will meet with to discuss any issues, needs, future development plans and any support which they may require
To provide college admin staff with a completed equipment form for each of their courses/workshops
To collect tutor packs prior to the start of each course/workshop
To assist with the organisation of the workspace, preparation of the sessions and equipment, clearing away, etc
To follow the recovery college code of conduct
To be reliable and dedicated
To inform supervisor as soon as possible if unable to carry out/attend agreed duties

Supporting the client to reach their person-centred goals as discussed with their Live Well Advisor
Depending on the needs of the person the role may include visits to meet people in the community and attending social activities for early support
This role is for those who are interested in helping to transport items across the district for the team who are providing courses/workshops and promotional events.
You will need business insurance for your vehicle in order to cover you for transporting bulky loads for the Trust
Volunteers will:
Take part in training updates and attend support and mentoring meetings on a regular basis as part of the volunteer team Assisting with setting up of tables/chairs in rooms for courses/workshops/promotional events
