The Barbados Defence Force, in partnership with the United Kingdom Defence Section and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS), will host the Psychology of Leadership Course during the period 7 to 11 April 2025 in Barbados.
The course aims to enhance the leadership effectiveness of Defence and Security professionals by developing a deeper understanding of psychological principles that influence leadership, motivation, team dynamics, influence, and decision-making.
The course will be conducted in the Hodgson Hall Conference Room, St. Ann’s Fort, Garrison, St. Michael. It will he held from 0900 hours to 1530 hours daily.
The course facilitator is Ms Charlotte Riggs.
Dr. Charlotte Riggs is the Head of the Communication and Applied Behavioural Science Department at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. (RMAS). Her academic background includes a PhD in Psychology, with research interests in visual cognition and human search behaviour. Dr. Riggs has contributed to projects such as the Centre for Research and Evidence on Security Threats (CREST), focusing on individual differences in detecting rare or hidden targets.
She has also co-authored publications like "The S-CALM Model: The Application of Ethical Leadership," emphasizing ethical leadership in military operations
