DECK THE HALLS

Deck the halls with boughs of holly, Fa la la la la, la la la la. Tis the season to be jolly, Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Don we now our gay apparel, Fa la la la la, la la la la. Troll the ancient Yuletide carol, Fa la la la la, la la la la.

See the blazing Yule before us, Fa la la la la, la la la la. Strike the harp and join the chorus. Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Follow me in merry measure, Fa la la la la, la la la la.

While I tell of Yuletide treasure, Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Fast away the old year passes, Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Hail the new, ye lads and lasses, Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Sing we joyous, all together, Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Heedless of the wind and weather, Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Carolling!

ANGELS WE HAVE HEARD ON HIGH

Angels we have heard on high, Sweetly singing o'er the plains, And the mountains in reply Echoing their joyous strains.

Refrain:

Gloria in excelsis Deo. Gloria in excelsis Deo.

Shepherds, why this jubilee? Why your joyous strains prolong? What the gladsome tidings be Which inspire your heavn'ly song? [Refrain]

Come to Bethlehem and see Him whose birth the angels sing. Come, adore on bended knee Christ the Lord, the newborn King. [Refrain]

See him in a manger laid, Whom the choirs of angels praise. Mary, Joseph, lend your aid While our hearts in love we raise. [Refrain]

Carolling!

JOY TO THE WORLD

Joy to the world; the Lord is come; Let Earth receive her King; Let ev'ry heart prepare him room, And heav'n and nature sing.

Joy to the Earth, the Savior reigns; Our mortal songs employ, While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains, Repeat the sounding joy.

No more let sins and sorrows grow, Nor thorns infest the ground; He comes to make his blessings flow Far as the curse is found.

He rules the world with truth and grace, And makes the nations prove The glories of his righteousness,

Prophecy of the Messiah's Birth

2 The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned.

3 You have enlarged the nation and increased their joy; they rejoice before you as people rejoice at the harvest, as warriors rejoice when dividing the plunder.

4 For as in the day of Midian’s defeat, you have shattered the yoke that burdens them, the bar across their shoulders, the rod of their oppressor.

5 Every warrior’s boot used in battle and every garment rolled in blood will be destined for burning, will be fuel for the fire.

6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

7 Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.

ISAIAH 11 : 1 - 9 (NIV)

The Peace Christ Will Bring

1A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.

2 The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord

3 and he will delight in the fear of the Lord. He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes, or decide by what he hears with his ears;

4 but with righteousness he will judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked.

5 Righteousness will be his belt and faithfulness the sash around his waist.

6 The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling[a] together; and a little child will lead them.

7 The cow will feed with the bear, their young will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox.

8 The infant will play near the cobra’s den, and the young child will put its hand into the viper’s nest.

9 They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.

The Birth of Jesus

2 (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.)

1 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world.

3 And everyone went to their own town to register.

4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David.

5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.

6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born,

7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.

Barbados Defence Force ristmas Message

As we gather in fellowship for this year’s Carol Service, we are reminded that Christmas is more than a celebration of tradition it is a call to unity, hope, and renewal. The Barbados Defence Force has embraced this spirit throughout 2025, standing steadfast in service to our nation and region, as one united Force, one consistent standard.

This year, our brave and dedicated men and women have answered the call in diverse engagements. From humanitarian missions that strengthened bonds across the Caribbean, to ceremonial duties that upheld the dignity of our national service, to operational successes that safeguarded our people and resources. Each mission and operation reflected our enduring commitment to discipline, resilience, and solidarity.

“A Season of Unity” speaks not only to the harmony of voices raised in carols, but also to the collective strength we have built together, the core of who we are as a Force. In times of challenge, we have leaned on one another; in moments of triumph, we have celebrated as one family. This unity has been our greatest success, and it will remain our guiding light as we look to the future.

As we step into a new year, the Barbados Defence Force renews its pledge to serve with honour, to innovate with purpose, and to foster unity across our communities. May the joy of Christmas inspire us all to continue building bridges of trust, compassion, and shared destiny.

On behalf of the Chief of Sta , Brigadier The Honourable Carlos Lovell and all members of the Barbados Defence Force, may you and your family be blessed this holiday season with peace, joy and love!

‘Tis The Season! Happy Holidays!

Thank you for joining us! Happy

Holidays
