Hymn I Vow To Thee My Country

National Anthem

Departure of Colours

Departures of Dignitaries

1 I vow to thee, my country, all earthly things above, entire and whole and perfect, the service of my love: the love that asks no question, the love that stands the test, that lays upon the altar the dearest and the best; the love that never falters, the love that pays the price, the love that makes undaunted the final sacrifice.

2 And there's another country I've heard of long ago, most dear to them that love her, most great to them that know; we may not count her armies, we may not see her King; her fortress is a faithful heart, her pride is suffering; and soul by soul and silently her shining bounds increase, and her ways are ways of gentleness and all her paths are peace.

Intercessions

L: Grant that we may continue to support the Regional Security System, the CARICOM security infrastructure and all other strategic partnership and alliances especially now during this hurricane season. We pray for Carlos, Chief of Staff, Mark Deputy Chief of Staff, all other officers, enlisted ranks and civilian staff and for our interagency partners that we may continue to provide exemplary leadership in our efforts to protect the sovereignty of Barbados and the many freedoms which we hold so dear.

All: Give grace to your servants, O Lord.

L: We thank you heavenly Father for those who have shared this life with us. At this time we commend our homes, our families and all those dear to our hearts to you O God. In your mercy bless, strengthen and protect them from evil and distress and teach them to cast their fears, anxieties and cares on You. Guide their steps in the Way as they grow in love for you and others. And finally teach our people to rely on your strength and to accept their responsibilities to their fellow citizens, that all may share in your goodness and praise you for your loving kindness.

All: For yours in the Kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all.

All: Our Father…

L: And now as our Saviour has taught us we conclude our prayers:

Who Would True Valour See

1 All who would valiant be 'Gainst all disaster, Let them in constancy Follow the master. There's no discouragement Shall make them once relent Their first avowed intent To be true pilgrims.

2. Who so beset them round With dismal stories, Do but themselves confound; Their strength the more is. No foes shall stay their might; Though they with giants fight, They will make good their right To be true pilgrims.

3. Since, Lord, you will defend Us with your Spirit, We know we at the end Shall life inherit. Then fancies flee away! We'll fear not what they say, We'll labor night and day To be true pilgrims.

Bible Reading Isaiah 6 : 1-8

1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lofty, and the hem of his robe filled the temple.

2 Seraphs were in attendance above him; each had six wings: with two they covered their faces, and with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew.

3 And one called to another and said, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory.”*

4 The pivots on the thresholds shook at the voices of those who called, and the house filled with smoke.

5 And I said, “Woe is me! I am lost, for I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, yet my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!”*

6 Then one of the seraphs flew to me, holding a live coal that had been taken from the altar with a pair of tongs.

7 The seraph touched my mouth with it and said, “Now that this has touched your lips, your guilt has departed and your sin is blotted out.”

8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I; send me!”*

Intercessions

Lead by The Honourable, Captain Reverend, Dr Joel Cumberbatch

L: O Lord our Governor, bless the leaders of our land, Sandra our President, Mia our Prime Minister, all members of the House of Assembly and the Senate and all in authority, grant wisdom and grace in the exercise of their duties, especially during this challenging period.

All: Give grace to your servants, O Lord.

L: Deepen our courage to defend the integrity of our island home Barbados from all that threatens our way of life. Gracious God be with us as we assist our police, other law enforcement and border security agencies, and in whatever capacity our service is required in the maintenance of a safe and secure society as we continue to value and promote human rights and safeguard the sanctity of human life.

All: Give grace to your servants, O Lord.

L: May we continue to play a leading role in the development and formation of our youth especially now as we continue to battle the scourges of illegal drugs and gun violence and continue the support of all civil ministries.

All: Give grace to your servants, O Lord.

(continued over leaf)

Will Your Anchor Hold

1 Will your anchor hold in the storms of life, when the clouds unfold their wings of strife? When the strong tides lift, and the cables strain, will your anchor drift, or firm remain?

Refrain:

We have an anchor that keeps the soul steadfast and sure while the billows roll; fastened to the Rock which cannot move, grounded firm and deep in the Savior’s love.

2 It is safely moored; 'twill the storm withstand, for 'tis well-secured by the Savior's hand. Though the tempest rage and the wild winds blow, not an angry wave shall our boat o'erflow.[Refrain]

3 When our eyes behold through the gath'ring night the city of gold, our harbor bright, we shall anchor fast by the heav'nly shore, with the storms all past forevermore. [Refrain]

Hold The Fort

1. Ho, my comrades, see the signal, waving in the sky! Reinforcements now appearing, victory is nigh.

Refrain:

“Hold the fort, for I am coming,” Jesus signals still; Wave the answer back to heaven, “By Thy grace we will.”

2. See the mighty host advancing, Satan leading on, Mighty ones around us falling, courage almost gone!

3. See the glorious banner waving, Hear the trumpet blow! In our Leader’s Name we triumph over every foe.

4. Fierce and long the battle rages, but our help is near, Onward comes our great Commander, cheer, my comrades, cheer!

1 After Jesus had finished all his sayings in the hearing of the people, he entered Capernaum.

2 A centurion there had a slave whom he valued highly and who was ill and close to death.

3 When he heard about Jesus, he sent some Jewish elders to him, asking him to come and heal his slave.

4 When they came to Jesus, they appealed to him earnestly, saying, “He is worthy to have you do this for him,

5 for he loves our people, and it is he who built our synagogue for us.”

6 And Jesus went with them, but when he was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to say to him, “Lord, do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy to have you come under my roof;

7 therefore I did not presume to come to you. But only speak the word, and let my servant be healed.

8 For I also am a man set under authority, with soldiers under me, and I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes, and to my slave, ‘Do this,’ and the slave does it.”

9 When Jesus heard this he was amazed at him, and, turning to the crowd following him, he said, “I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such faith.”

10 When those who had been sent returned to the house, they found the slave in good health.

Goodness Of God

1 I love You, Lord

For Your mercy never fails me

All my days, I've been held in Your hands

From the moment that I wake up

Until I lay my head

Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God

Chorus

'Cause all my life You have been faithful

And all my life You have been so, so good

With every breath that I am able

Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God

2 I love Your voice

You have led me through the fire

In darkest night

You are close like no other

I've known You as a Father

I've known You as a Friend

And I have lived in the goodness of God

Chorus (x2)

'Cause all my life You have been faithful

And all my life You have been so, so good

With every breath that I am able

Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God
