Purchasedimportanttoolsusedforphysicaltherapywithinthe MarinersHospitalRehabilitationCenter TheCenterprovidesphysical therapytothecommunitythroughavarietyofmanualtechniques, treatmentmodalities,advancedtechnologiesandevidenced-based programstohelppatientsachievetheirrehabilitationgoals.

FundedessentialequipmentforthehyperbaricchamberatMariners Hospital,whichusesoxygentherapytotreatmanyillnessesand injuries,includingdiving-relateddecompressionsickness,nonhealingwounds,radiationtissuedamageandcarbonmonoxide poisoning FundssupportedthepurchaseofanElektronikonMKV Compressorthatenhancescompressorperformance,energy savingsandsystemcontrol–acrucialcomponentforefficientair compression.In2023,theteamtreated21divingaccidentcasesand 12woundcarepatients,resultingin209chamberpresses.Typically, diveaccidentcasesaretreatedmorethanonceuntilsymptoms resolveandeachwoundcarepatientreceivesanaverageof30total treatmentsadministereddaily.

AcquiredthePhilipsPatientInformationCenter,whichprovidesa centralizedplatformwithintheMarinersHospitalEmergency Departmentforaccessingcriticalpatientinformation Inemergency situations,rapidaccesstoaccurateinformationiscrucialinmaking informeddecisionsanddeliveringtimelyandappropriatecare. Philanthropysupportedthestreamliningofcommunicationand improvementofhealthcaredelivery.

EnhancedpatientsafetymeasuresfortheMarinersHospital EmergencyDepartmentbyinstallingsignagethatprovidesclear information,warningsandguidancetopatients,visitorsand healthcarestaff

PurchasedanewPhillipsVentilator,usedininstancesofrespiratory distressorsevereillness.Theventilatorcanhelpmaintainoxygen levelsandsupportpatient’srespiratoryfunctions,playingavitalrole insavinglivesatMarinersHospital.

SupportedTheDiabetesCareCenteratBaptistHealthMariners Hospital,afacilitythatprovidesdiabetesmanagement,education andsupportservicestopatientswithtype1andtype2diabetes.

Purchasedbooksandsuppliestosupportnursesteachingatlocal events,allowingthemtodemonstratediseaseprocessesusingflip chartsandmodelsthathelpeducatepatientsandthecommunity.

Improvedeliveryofcare

Supportedthedailyoperationsoftheelectronicintensivecareunit (eICU)monitoringsystematBaptistHealthMarinersHospital throughBaptistHealth’slifesavingLifeGuardsystem Thesystem enablescriticalcarephysiciansandnursesatourLifeGuardClinical OperationsCenterinMiami,morethan60milesawayfromMariners Hospital,toelectronicallymonitorthemedicalconditionofallICU admissions.TheeICUenhancestheexceptionalhands-oncareof thephysiciansandnurses,providingadditionalsupportandthe bestpossiblecareforpatients.Morethan500eICUinterventions occurredbecauseofphilanthropicsupporttotheeICUmonitoring system.

Enhancedpatientcarethroughbuildingimprovementsat Fishermen’sCommunityHospital Fundsutilizedforconstruction projectshelpaccommodatethegrowingcommunity’shealthcare needsandallowustoprovidestate-of-the-artmedicalfacilitiesto ensurethehospitalremainsequippedtodeliverqualityhealthcare services.

ProvidednursesatMarinersHospitalandFishermen’sCommunity Hospitaltheopportunitytoparticipateinnursingconferences throughouttheyear SomeoftheseconferencesincludedThe AmericanNursesCredentialingCenter(ANCC)NationalMagnet Conference,theAcademyofMedical-SurgicalNurses(AMSN) ConferenceandtheOncologyNursingSocietyConference.These educationalopportunitiesallowstafftostayup-to-dateoncurrent evidence-basedpracticesandlatestresearch,connectwiththeir peersandbringwhattheyhavelearnedbacktotheirteamsto ensurethatBaptistHealthisprovidingthehighestlevelofpatient care.

ProvidedtransportationfornursesfrombothMarinersHospitaland Fishermen’sCommunityHospitaltoattendtheRobertB Cole DistinguishedLectureSeries Thisannualeventallowsustohonor ournursingstaffwithaspecialreceptionthatincludesinspiring speechesandthepresentationoftheRichardP.ColeNurseofthe YearAward.Philanthropyplaysanimportantroleinacknowledging thehardwork,tirelessdedicationandcompassionofourhealthcare workers.

Nearly200guestsattendedBaptist HealthFoundation’s2023Denim& DiamondseventonSaturday,March 25atOceanFrontParkinMarathon, Florida.Theeventcelebratedthe Foundation’sGivingSociety membersandotherdonorsto BaptistHealthFishermen’s CommunityHospital.

Theeventraisedmorethan $200,000tobenefitthefundtobuild thenewMedicalArtsBuildingonthe groundsofthehospital Thebuilding willenhancethevisionofmaking Fishermen’sCommunityHospitala comprehensivemedicalcampus andwillfeatureBaptistHealth MedicalGroupPrimaryCare physiciansandspecialtypractices, rehabilitationservices,anexpanded infusiontherapycenterandmore.
